a whole month. it was the day before Halloween for pete's sake! Georgia ignored Pony for a whole month.
she took that time to let her mental self rest, to get up in school, and to make the track team.
she was pretty fast, but not as fast as Pony.
he wrote her a letter or two, and she had at least looked at him.
but it was killing him.
for Halloween there was a big bash, with Socs and Greasers, down in the abandoned drive-in.
Georgia was gonna go with Johnny, as friends.

Halloween was the one holiday where skirt length didn't matter.

so here it was, a Tuesday, and they were sitting right across from each other in class.
