Prem and Vivek hustled into the hospital where their family was waiting. Preeti had fainted after a 8 hour hospital shift and Dr. Seth was treating her. Prem was visibly concerned and Sadhna bhabi and Mamta went to help calm him,giving him reassurance that Preeti would be fine, that she was fine when she left this morning for her shift.
A few minutes later which felt like hours to Prem, Dr. Seth came and invited them into the room. Preeti was awake laying on the bed and Prem immediately went to her side checking over her with concern. Preeti gave a tired smile and assured him she was okay, that Dr. Seth took good care of her. Dr. Seth then called everyone to his attention.
"There's no need to worry, Preeti is fine she was just tired and a little dehydrated. Her fainting was just her body reacting to her need to rest(I don't know anything about healthcare please accept this with a tablespoon of salt). They'll both be fine after a good long sleep at home."
Sadhna caught on first, " Dr. did you say both?" .
" Ahh yes congrats Prem you're going to be a father, Preeti here is just about 3 weeks pregnant"
Preeti laughed as Prem darted between looking at her and Dr. Seth before bear hugging her almost entirely on the bed with her.
Sadhna and Vivek cheered and gave her their congratulations while manta gave her blessings before leaving to call and inform the family while muttering about a celebration party.
Preeti just observed with a tired but proud smile and Prem climbed in the bed beside her it was a tight fit but he wanted to hold his wife. The 4 of them talked for a bit, Vivek and Sadhna teasing them a bit about the impending lack of sleep when the child comes and that their son will finally have a playmate before leaving as well while Preeti and Prem are staying until the drip bag finished for her to leave.
Finally alone since they received the news, Prem gave his wife a gentle forehead peck and asked how she felt. Preeti thought for a bit before saying " hmmm....happy.....and sleepy, how about you?"
" So happy Preeti and relieved , you scared me , you know? Thank you for being ok and for making me a father".
Preeti leaned up and kissed his check and apologized for scaring him and reassuring that she was ok before settling on his chest to take a small nap. She felt a kiss on her head before falling asleep to her husband's heartbeat. As expected from their family they returned to a party at home to celebrate the upcoming addition to the family. Preeti was still tired so she left after seeing her dad, Prem could handle receiving all the well wishes for them. She showered and changed out of her hospital clothes and fell asleep holding her flat stomach. Today was an exciting day for both of them.
