SORRY ABOUT THE LATE CHAPTER! I WAS PRETTY LAZY AND DECIDED THAT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA TO WRITE ON THE LAST DAY I HAD TOO AKA TODAY. There will be typos and mistakes since I didn't get to edit much. Sorry. Honestly I'm really sorry about that. I've been a bit preoccupied with fanfics and Anime. I'M BACKS! THANKS FOR THE 100 READS. In honor of this event I'll make next chapter a bit longer. :D Hope you enjoy the chapter. I'll be back to regular schedule now. I don't want to go back to school! It's only a couple more days. School sucks so much. I hope that the teachers don't give me too much homework. >_<. Also Maria and Diego are OCs commonly used for Mexico. One represents the north, the other the south. Now onto the chapter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Who wants to read?" Liechtenstein repeated once more.
"I'll read." Romano said. People were giving him weird looks. He sighed. Are people always this stupid? And they wonder why he's always grumpy and angry at them. Their idiocy drives him nuts. How does America even deal with all of their stupidity?
"Jesus Christ, I don't even know why you guys act surprised anymore. You've all learned quite a lot today, haven't you? We all hide secrets so don't act surprised bastardos. We have a lot to learn about each other. I doubt that this is the end. We'll all get revealed on by one. No one here, sooner or later, is coming out with any secrets left. You bastardos are truly clueless I guess." Romano said angrily. After that no one spoke. They were all speechless. He walked over Liechtenstein and grabbed the book on the table. He gave her a small sweet smile before walking back to his seat. He looked over at her to see her smiling back with a look in her eye saying thank you.
"America honestly cares about Canada as his brother and best friend. And he feels more guilty than anyone else for overlooking him." Romano read. He looked over to Canada to see him tearful. He was crying tears of joy. He looked over to America to see him crying. Not tears of joy, but tears of hate. He hated himself so much.
"I'm- I-. I don't know what to say because there are no words to describe how sorry I am. I'm a pretty terrible brother. I pretend that my brother doesn't exist. What a terrible brother I really am. I really am a monster. I don't deserve you. But then again I never deserved any of you. How can a imbecile like me be friends to any of you?" America said, chuckling at the end. He hated himself a lot more than he let on. A lot. He's done a lot of things he hates himself for. The Vietnam War. The Korean War. The bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The War of 1812. And many more. He started things he never should've. He did things he shouldn't have. So many things. He killed so many innocent people. They probably all hate him. The ghosts of the past haunts him the most. He wants to tell them how sorry he really is. He's a demon that needs to pay for his sins. Maybe that's why he's still alive. Maybe he doesn't deserve death. Maybe. Japan, Vietnam, Canada, and the Koreas probably hate him. He's hurt them all so much. He doesn't deserve to be their friends. Why does he even exist? So many thoughts ran through his mind. He wondered what Allen was currently doing now. Who knows, Allen is always doing something. He snapped out of his thoughts when Canada went over and gave him a big bear hug.
"I love you and I know you do too. I know that you  purposely looked over me to protect me. I know now anyways. You're not an imbecile. You're not a terrible brother. You're the best brother I could ever ask for. Remember what you told Lily? You said that we're all equals, no matter how big or small our country is. You're no exception. I'm suppose to protect you, but here you are protecting me instead. What a terrible brother I am. You're going to hear that a lot today. We've both gone through a lot together and separately. I'm learning so much about you. A lot I didn't know. The things I should've noticed, but I didn't. I-" Canada said, before he was interrupted.
"Don't say that. You're a greater brother better than what I will ever be. I hid things from you cause I was scared of what you were going to do or what you were going to say. I didn't want you to worry about me. I'm sorry, for not telling you. I'm sorry. I didn't want you guys to worry about me when you could barely take care of yourself. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." America quietly said. He had a bit of anger in his voice. He was shaking with anger actually. He didn't tell his brother and now he feels terrible. He was suppose to protect him.
"I think we should take another break now. Be back in an hour." Germany said in the everlasting, silent echoey room. The room was often quiet now. Although he liked the quietness, he missed the happiness and laughter that was absent in the room. He missed it. Even when they never got any work done, it was fun, although he would never admit it himself. He wished he got to know the American better. He learned a lot today. America helped him after the war, even though his country did many terrible atrocities, he didn't care. He looked past all of the things his country did, and helped him get back on his feet, he saw a human in need, not a country who did terrible things. America somehow knew that he didn't do all the things out of his own will, he knew that he was forced to against his own will. He knew. He knew who he was insideHe was often speechless at how much he didn't know about America. He was never close with him. But they were always friendly with each other. He thought the America was happy and clueless to the real tough world. Man was he wrong. He wants to help America, but how? They weren't really great friends and he didn't want to scare the poor boy. He was pretty scary, was what he heard. He already planned to stay during the break with Japan and the Italies. He looked and saw the mostly empty room the only people who stayed other then the four of them and America were France, England, Canada, and surprisingly Liechtenstein and Switzerland. They all stood up and slowly walked over to America, who was sitting on the floor waiting for the Mexicos to come back with the food. He slowly approached America and put his hand on his shoulder. He jumped a little. He gave him a smile to assure that he was friendly.
"It's okay. I won't hurt you. We're all here to help you." Germany comfortingly told him. He saw Italy walk over and sat in front of him.
"Want to talk a bit?" Italy asked. He saw America nod. He was making progress.
"What do you want to talk about?" Italy asked. His head bobbing up and down.
"Umm, can we talk about flowers?" America quietly asked. It was a weird topic, but he loved flowers.
"Of course we can!" Italy cheerfully said. He loved flowers too. He loved drawing them.
"Can we be ourselves here? Italy you can drop the act, please be yourself. Everyone can. I want to know the real you, not the fake you. I don't mean to be rude." America quietly said.
"Okay." Italy said. He wasn't smiling like normal, he wasn't loud or cheerful like he usually is. It's all just an act after all.
"My favorite flowers are Lillies they're so pretty." Italy said. Romano nodded.
"Mine are blue daisies, which aren't native here. My other favorite is roses." America said smiling a bit. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts and memories.
"Mine are cornflowers. I just love the color of them." Germany said. Some of them were surprised to see Germany of all people, talk about flowers, but there was, after all a lot they don't know about each other. He looked over at the door and saw the Mexico twins come in with some food.
"Hey Hermano, it's time to eat, okay." Diego said. He held the half full bowl of soup from the previous break. He gave the bowl to Alfred as he slowly ate. After he finished he took the bowl to the break room and putted it in the dishwasher. He saw the others there all eating and talking. He went over to the fridge to find the things he needed to make a sandwich. As he was making the sandwich he heard something that made his skin boil with anger.
"What a weakling. He's probably lying. He's trying to make us feel bad, isn't he? I doubt any of this is true." Someone said.
"WHO JUST SAID THAT!?! Whoever said that will die a painful death. I will fucking kill you with my own hands. I will bring down your government." Diego said in the scariest and angriest voice they've probably ever heard. No one responded as they were all scared and feared for their life. They were all shivering and shaking.
"Anyone who has anything to say about Al can come to me. I'll personally kill you. Got it?" Diego said darkly.
"Yes sir!" Everyone yelled. They all feared for their lives. They all remembered the wrath of the Mexico twins. They were very protective of their hermanos, anyone who messes with them, gets their wrath. It was as simple as that. They saw Diego walked out of the room with his sandwich and walked back to the meeting room. They all sighed.
"Who said that, aru?" China asked sternly. No one answered once more. He started shaking his head. Is this what they've all become? He was surely disappointed. But then again he hurt America a lot. He was sure he knew who America was. But now he knows he never did know him. No one did.He wasn't free from guilt. He felt pretty guilty, but what could he do? He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to do either. He wasn't even that close to America. He's lived and been through many things. America is so young compared to him yet he's been through so much. He honestly wish he wasn't so mean to America. He didn't see through America's mask. Why didn't he see? Why was he blinded by his own foolishness? He was suppose to be wise, but was he?
Diego came back to see America talk with everyone. He quickly finished his sandwich. And to see Switzerland smiling was a rare sight. They were all talking about flowers. He smiled as Maria looked at him and gave him a thumbs up. Meaning that America was getting a bit better. He was acting or appearing happier, but they knew that deep inside that this was the real him, not an act. And that made them feel relieved.
"Hey Diego you're back." America said cheerfully. He smiled.
"Yeah. Whatcha talking about?" Diego asked, pretending to not know.
"We're talking about our favorite flowers. My favorite are lilies, specifically yellow lilies." Liechtenstein quietly explained.
"Maria did you tell them yet?" Diego asked. He saw Maria shake her head.
"Our favorite flower is called dahlia pinnata. They're really beautiful." Diego said. He closed his eyes as he remembered the pretty petals.
"Oh yeah! I remember them. Hey, can I get a piece of paper and a pencil?" America asked. Maria stood up and grabbed a piece of paper and pencil.
"Here you go hermano!" Maria said cheerfully. She watched as he sketched out the flower on the paper.
"It's not really good, but it's my best." America said holding the picture up to show the others his drawing. It was actually really incredible. It looked just like the one from his memory. What they all didn't notice was the people coming in. The people looking at the drawing. Or that's what they thought. They were actually looking at his smile. It was the first time they saw his real smile. Seeing made them realize how fake his mask really was. How unhappy and depressed he really was. They all realized that he wasn't lying. The entries, the memories, everything was true. They all realized their mistakes. But now the question is, are they too late? Can they really fix America the broken hero? How do you even begin to save someone, so broken, so misunderstood, so many secrets, and skeletons in the closet? But how do you begin to save someone who doesn't think they deserve to? That's when America started to cry. Out of nowhere. As if he remembered something. Something sad.
"How could I forget? Today is that day. This was her favorite flower. Today was the day she died." America mumbled to himself, as he stared at the drawing.
"Who is she?" England asked. America looked down and let the tears as he took a deep breath.
