Few days after Blake and Chris' encounter, school resumed but it's currently the third week since resumption.
Nothing much has changed. My college mates are still the same, no news. Many of us were still anticipating our last semester results which were yet to be released. It was a whole mess last semester so I hoped I came out good like always if not — 'Lord-rescue-me'.
It's pretty difficult seeing Blake in school. Of course it'll be hard since the school is large and we are courses apart. I've been trying to keep an eye on him but it doesn't always worked out. I was just scared of being viewed differently from all other students. Married students at our school were mature adults which made me probably the only married teenager on the brink of adulthood.
Talking of Chris – He's been really busy lately which leaves me craving more of his presence. But on the good side—Chris hardly meets Blake except for a day when Blake held my waist right in front of him.
At first I wasn't expecting Chris to get so mad about it but when I saw the blaze in his eyes, something told me otherwise. Chris' glare turned to daggers shot directly at Blake who seemed to enjoy his actions.
Flashback -------------
A smile broke on my face once I heard a knock on the door. I was expecting Chris this afternoon since he said he was going to come see me.
The excitement on my face died down on opening the door– sighting the unexpected at the door entrance. The smile on my face slowly retreated to it's original size if not smaller. The unwelcomed guest lifted up his right brow.
"You could at least put on a smile for your visitor. Or are you expecting your boyfriend?" He snickered, shaking his bowed head.
I scowled at him, "Can't a guy mean something more worthy to a lady than a mere boyfriend or lover?" I said irritably.
"Not in the world you and I live" He said, his half smile completing his expression.
I folded my arms across my chest, stepping out of the house as the door drew slowly close.
"Or you mean, in the world you live" I gave him a mocking smirk.
"Could you be anymore interesting?" He said, hovering over me while bringing his face closer. I backed away. Fits of laughter filled the porch with Blake clutching onto his stomach in a bent position. I looked away, blinking slightly at the embarrassment.
After being able to capture back his composure a bit, he stood straight but his right hand stretched out to the wall while the other still held loosely on his stomach. His shoulders were still trying not to shake but they still were.
"You know you should stop pretending to be tough...." he snickers.
"....cause you still are chicken. I mean I didn't even want to kiss you but you were ready to melt down to earth" He said between his broken laugh.
The gate opened to reveal Chris stepping into the compound. I mentally bit my lip. Drama is ready to unfold itself. Blake turned to the side, a smile stretching on his sun kissed face as he stared at Chris. Chris on his part was gazing at us in a surprised way, walking into the compound while pocketing his phone.
He was in his formal white shirt tucked in his black tailored trousers. It looks like he just came directly from work. I stood at my position and smiled, ready to welcome him. The smile on his face gave me a good feeling that he wasn't mad.
"Hey" I said as we hugged but then Blake pulled me by the arm towards himself.
"Take it easy babe" He said, narrowing his eyes at me. He faked a smile at Chris while his arms snaked around my waist. My eyes would have shot out of its socket if they weren't fixed. My face flamed in anger at Blake's action.
"So what's up man?" He licked his upper lip looking at Chris whose eyes shot daggers at him.
I wriggled in his grip but he wouldn't let me go. Chris took it upon himself to break me free— pulling me out of Blake's arms. Once I was out, Chris pushed Blake to the wall with his forearm horizontally pressing onto his chest and his hand held in a fist. The only thing Blake did was smirk as Chris said something inaudible.......
End of Flashback
Buzzz.......
I looked at the caller ID, it was Chris. Picking up, my eyes scanned around the premises where I was in. Students were just moving around or doing their business but I was alone. He said he wanted to give me a surprise visit in school but that he doesn't know where I am.
I gave him direction but it seems he wasn't going to use that method. Unfortunately my friends met me even before he did. My nerves were shaking and I was afraid they would know.
Jacklyn sat beside me on the carved seat stone close to art department whereas Grace sat adjacent us, head digged into her phone.
"Eddy today isn't fun at all" Whined Jacklyn, placing her head on my shoulder.
"I'm not your fun machine" I said, letting my anxiety get the best of me as I let my eyes scan for any sign of Chris. She whined again, lifting her chin to my shoulder as her eyes darted to the left.
"Hmm, new guy. Wow I could look at him all day" I heard Jacklyn whisper.
I turned to face what she was looking at. My heart burst in a quick explosion but at the same time really pleased to see him.
What is wrong with me, he's just a friend?
He waved at my direction and I waved back so he came towards me with his liveliness. We hugged and I introduced him to my friends as a friend. He didn't seem so bothered, thank God.
"Hi I'm Jacklyn, it's nice to meet you" Jacklyn spoke up first after the introduction. Then entered Grace whose eyes shown shimmering sparks of light as she stretched forth her hand for an handshake.
Wait, is she trying to flirt with Chris? My Chris?
"Nice to meet you both. How are you doing?" He answered, shaking hands with Grace who blushed.
Ahhhh! You dare to blush in front of Chris by his gesture? How dare you Grace!?
I was mentally huffing like a buffalo at her.
Chris is my husband and no one else is so, back off.
Who are my deceiving? She doesn't know the truth and I'm not even making an effort to let anyone know.
"Sorry ladies, you wouldn't mind if I take your friend away for some minutes, would you?" He asked with his gentleman smile.
"N-n-no, not at all" Replied Grace, a smile tugged on her full lips.
He held my hand as we walked away, making me jump out of my skin. He always make me feel awkwardly shy.
Returning after a short sweet conversation, my friends threw questions at me.
"Wow Eddy, so you'd found a guy and never told us ehn?" Asked Grace, chewing on her gum.
"Is he your Bf, I bet he is right?" Asked Jacklyn.
"How did you find him, he's so good looking" Jumped in Grace with dreamy eyes.
My mouth opened slightly to reply to Grace but Jacklyn cut in, "And he looks wealthy too. Where on earth did you find him, I want mine" Whined Jacklyn, pulling onto my arm like a kid.
"We're just friends guys. He's my boyfriend (yeah) but on the platonic level. There's nothing more than that"
I forced a smile.
"Just friends I see" Teased Grace, nudging at my arm with her elbow.
Wow, a round of applause for Eddy. She has been awarded world serial liar for the year.
My friends can be funny at times but they can get really annoying if they want to. I was beginning to feel protective of Chris. I don't want another Amarachi in his life that would keep hurting him over and over again.
