"Because I'm going to need it if I'm going to be a guard," You grin,
"You're going to be a guard?" He asks a huge smile on his face.
"Yeah, I'm going to do it for sure. " You say
"For Blue Diamond? Or Pheonix Drop?" He asks a look of worry forming in his eyes.
"Pheonix Drop... I want to be one of Lord Levins guards or Aphmau's, but I want to be with you and being a guard has always been what I've wanted to do," You smile "I just know that I want to be in Pheonix Drop..."
"I love you," He laughs picking you up and hugging you.
"Ahaha put me down," You say through laughs
He carefully sets you down and looks into your eyes, "I really do Love you," He says more serious this time, His forehead on yours.
"I love you too," You say closing your eyes "I am really Lucky to have you, I dont know what I would do if I never met you," You say opening your eyes and looking directly into his blue ones,"
"Your eyes..." You begin
"I know they're beautiful," He jokes
"No,- Well yes but I never realized how blue they are,"
"They weren't originally this color, they were green before. Its a really long story..." He says
"Okay well, do you want to go get some tea? Maybe we can talk for a bit," You say changing the subject.
"Yeah even though that's almost all we do is talk,"
"Not all of the time" You give him a sly grin
"Y/N !" He laughs
"I'm not wrong," You sing
"Well no your not but, NO!" He laughs at you
"C'mon," You pull away from him and take his hand. LEading him down the stairs.
You make your way down the steps and stop at the bottom. On a table next to you, you see a picture of you and Michael. It's from your guard days. When you both became guards for Blue Diamond. You stop in your tracks, staring at it. You haven't forgotten the fact that your brother is gone. But you haven't wanted to think about it, its all to hard to accept.
"Y/N? Are you alright?" Laurence asks quietly but it still makes you jump.
"Yeah, let's go..."
You make it to a small bar and find a table. This was your favorite place. It had alcohol, food, and always had wonderful music. You used to even work here, behind the bar. It was fun You had a lot of time to hang out with people especially if it was a slow day.
"This is my favorite place in the village," You smile
"Really?" He asks kindly
"Yes, I always loved the vibe it gave me, I am always in a good mood when I come here."
"huh, my favorite place in Pheonix Drop are the docks. I always love looking out at the ocean"
"I never would have expected that..."
"What do you mean?" He asks
"I dont know, that's just not what I was expecting your favorite place in the village to be." You smile at him. "I'm going to get us some drinks, do you want anything?"
"Yeah, I'll just come with you," He says standing up
You get your drinks and make it back to the table, you got Cinnamon Tea. While Laurence ordered a Strawberry Smoothie. You drank your tea when a thought came into your head.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" Laurence asks looking panicked. At first, you didn't even realize that you were choking. You cough and feel your eyes begin to water.
"Ahem, No actually. Something just dawned on me," You say not wanting to tell him what it was. You didn't want to ruin your date with Shadow Knight related things.
'What? What is it?" He asks
"No, I dont want to ruin this with Shadow Knight stuff,"
"Y/N you can tell me," He says taking a drink of his smoothie.
"Well," You say giving in "It's just- I start from the beginning, Shadow Knights are formed usually from Guards. Correct?" He nods "So they take corrupted guards and make them kill the one they protect. Because its easiest that way. I'm not a guard, and besides Victor cam looking for me. They wanted me specifically and the fact that they didn't take Zach with them. They left him. They wanted me?"
"That is really weird. I didn't even think about it. MAybe because you're in power? You are a Lord after all." He says
"But wouldn't they go for someone with even more power, like Lord Garte?" You ask
"Well no, they want someone with power but they also dont want someone who can overrule the Shadow King. So they probably thought you were a good choice and an easy target," He says once again taking a sip from the strawberry smoothie.
"I guess that makes sense," You say "I dont know it just had me thinking that's all,"
Okay Change of subject, tell me more about why you want to be a guard so much?" He asks repositioning n his chair.
"What? Why?" You ask a little surprised by his question.
"I dont know just wondering," He says with a smile.
"Well I always loved fighting and the feeling of a sword in my hand always
felt right. Michael, Victor and I would play in my front yard with sticks pretending they were swords when we were young." You laugh " I guess its hard to explain," You say
"So... What was he like?" He asks
"Who?"
"Victor when you saw him in the Nether," He says and your body freezes up.
"Let's just say he's not the man I once knew..." You say your hands begin to tremble. Laurence looks down at your hands and grabs them. Holding them in his own.
"You dont have to continue," He says softly
"Thanks," You say "So, what was Pheonix Drop like in its glory days?" You ask, you no longer want to think of Victor.
"Lively, we always had something going on and the place was always filled with smiles. No matter what was happening. Everyone worked together no matter who didn't like who or was in a fight. We always stood together," He says with a small smile.
"That sounds so cheezy but super sweet," You say and you see him grin
"Oh you're completely right it's totally lathered in cheese! But thanks," You smile at him and he continues talking, "Come on we should get going to Pheonix drop,"
"You can go on ahead, I need to inform everyone in the village that I'm leaving..."
"Y/N?" He says his face growing serious "I'm really happy you're coming to Phoenix Drop with me..." He says and you feel his lips on yours. He gives you a small yet passionate kiss.
"Sorry to interrupt," You jump when you hear a voice, you look up to see Zach standing there.
"Oh sorry!" You say standing up,
"I'll meet you at the village," Laurence says getting up from the table and walking out the door. A small smirk forming on his face.
"So what's going on with you two?" He asks a grin on his face
"We're dating," You smile,
"But I thought you said he loved-"
"I dont want to talk about that," You say sitting back down, gesturing him to sit down. "But I want you to know I am stepping down as Lord. Whether it be selfish or not."
"That's actually why I am here. I want to apologize for what I said yesterday. It was completely rude and I was out of place."
"Its okay Zach, you weren't wrong. But I have never been cut out for this. I want to be a guard. And not worry about being a Lord. I'm better for protecting and not leading."
"I know, I'm going to miss you Y/N..." He says "I know we didn't have the best start, and I know that a small part of you will never forgive me for what I've done in the past. And that's understandable. Just know that I have thought of you as a big sister. I love you Y/N, you're a part of my family. Something I never had never had growing up. You helped me get out of a really bad place. And I thank you..." A tear streams down his face.
"Zach, that's means so much to me, I know that I have held your past against you. And that's not fair. I let you come to this village because I trust you. You are my family, and that will never change. You're going to be a good lord..." You get up and hug him. A few tears coming from your eyes. "I'm going to miss you, Come and visit okay?" You say pulling away and walking towards the door. You turn around and look at him.
"Will do..." he smiles

You have a town meeting int eh plaza a few hours later. It's the time to tell the village that you're leaving.
"Everyone!" You say as the crowd calms.
"This is hard to say... But I'm going to make this quick. I'm sure you all have better things to do than listen to me, " they laugh
"As you know the village was once again attacked by shadow Souls. And we lost many people. Including our head guard. Michael." They are quiet
"I also have one other thing to announce...". You take a deep breath. " I will be stepping down as Lord, and Zach will be taking my place. We have talked this over many times. And maybe one day I'll return. But some things have happened these few months. And I don't think I'm qualified to be leading a village. I'll be back one day. Maybe when Zach realizes it's not for him.". The faces of the crowd grow shocked.
"A few of you may know I was turned into a shadow Knight against my will. And I think until I learn to control it I should have leave of absence. Until I am ready physically and Mentally." You say a few years coming from your eyes. "Thank you for everything Blue Diamond! You are a strong village!"
You hear cheers and claps coming from the audience. They are truly one amazing Village.
