Phil's POV
As I walked down the familiar cobbled pavement I couldn't help but shiver. This is where my life had changed forever - for better of for worse I wasn't quite sure - but I had never wanted to see this place again.
Why the hell am I back here? Was my subconscious so cruel as to lure me back here or was it a choice?
I stare at the river Thames hesitantly, but - oddly enough - I didn't feel the overwhelming urge to jump. If I did I'd lose Dan, call me selfish but I want all of him I can get whilst I can. Whether I do or don't jump right now, Dan's going to get hurt anyway.
I began to back away as my phone buzzed. I took it out to check it, beginning to type a response to Dan, but I couldn't finish it... Before I could I was interrupted.
"Boss..?!" A familiar feminine voice called, shock laced in the words.
"F-Freya?!" I yelled (well it was more like a manly scream), my surprise causing the grip on my phone to loosen as I typed my text to Dan.
Plonk!
Oh god I'm screwed, I should have thought, but I was too occupied staring at my old... Employee...
"I... How could this be... You-You're dead!"
"Freya- look, I can explain."
"And you're going to! We need to get you back to your parents, your mum's been sick with worry!" She exclaimed, grabbing my arm and dragging.
"No." I growled, but it was difficult to hide the raw fear I felt resonate within me.
"What?! Boss-"
"Freya, I'm not going back. Clearly if I faked my own suicide I did it for a goddamn reason." We spent a few moments glaring at each other, before Freya's eyes illuminated with a mischievous tint.
"Let's make a deal then," I was about to question her, but my words were cut off by her pointy nails on my lips. "I don't turn you in and you pay me." I paused, staring dead ((... ;) )) at her.
"How much and by when?" I can't believe I'm actually considering this. I don't have a job, nor a clue of how to get one. But I can't go back.
"A thousand quid by whenever. I may give you a deadline soon, but I'm feeling generous right now." I spent a few moments in hesitation, searching desperately for a compromise; Freya didn't balance stuff, however, she either got exactly what she wanted when she wanted it or she didn't get it at all; so there was no point in even trying for a fair deal.
Then, I thought of Dan. I thought of his chocolate eyes like a mesmerising whirlpool; how his dimples merged perfectly with his face, creating soft and subtle edges; his soft curls and how it fell so perfectly atop his head and complimented his smile beautifully, making him look handsome, but not that masculine, and god he was perfect.
Then I imagined the hurt in his eyes when I would disappear, or even worse if he found out who I was and what I've done - and god if that wasn't enough to shatter my heart alone. I couldn't do that to my - or at least who I wished was my - baby.
"Deal."
