"I don't have a dress for tonight, so I'd probably just going to put on whatever I can find in my closet" Jennie said in regarding to her last minute decision as they both walked to take their lunch breaks.
"you're such a loser for deciding to go last minute, I hope you find something to wear then" Kiyoung replied as he grabs two lunch bags and hand one to her.
she grabs onto it as they both headed towards the cafeteria tables to sit.
"aye" one of the guy came towards them, blocking their way to the table.
Jennie looked at Kiyoung, thinking it was one of his friends but he also looked lost. "what's with that look?" the guy said as he pushes Kiyoung back away so he can go next to her.
Kiyoung felt offended and immediately shoves his self back at him. grabbing him by his shirt collar, he looked him in the eye, "what the heck are you doing?"
Jennie stood besides Kiyoung as she tries her hardest to stop both of them, "Kiyoung, let go" she said as the other guy jerked off a smirk. Kiyoung did so and then pushes him harder so they can clear the way for them to go sit.
"let's go" Kiyoung said to Jennie as he picked up his lunch bag and make its way past him.
"go to the dance with me Jennie!" the guy exclaimed the reason behind why he pushes Kiyoung and approached him.
the words ringed inside of Jennie's head as she turned back to face him. she became skeptical as it wasn't coming from Kiyoung but someone else that she doesn't know. however like always, it didn't take long enough for Kiyoung to jump in.
"she got a date already" he lied and without looking, grab her by the hand.
'what the heck' she screamed inside as their hand touches for the very first time. it was cold as she felt a chill runs down her back. just within a second, she struggle to un-hold it but Kiyoung insisted by holding it tightly.
the guy 'tsk', "she didn't say that" and pointed towards Jennie as she was in silence, "plus you'll be the last one to get her if you keep acting as friends" the guy spat out some facts at Kiyoung. she swallow in her nervousness and fought out of Kiyoung's grip, "sorry, but I would like to go alone since it's the last dance for this year"
after she finishes saying that, her eyes landed on Kiyoung and saw the hurt on his face and the disappointment on the other guy's face. within the silence, she walked off into the hallway and into her locker.
she puts her lunch bags into the locker and sighed as footsteps comes from behind her.
"yaahhh, that was awesome!" Kiyoung said as he lean onto the locker that was located next to hers. he was lying as he felt some real rejection from her earlier. by so, he was glad that he didn't take the risk of asking her to go with him but at the same time was pretty sad about it.
from his compliments, she didn't exactly knew how he felt or how to react to it. instead she probably thought he would have feel the same way the other guy did yesterday when getting rejected.
"i'm going to class early, I have an exam today. i'll see you tonight at the dance" she said and then loop around him and started walking away.
before she turned the corner and him not taking another shot, he asked, "i'll come pick you up later then?" this time he expected nothing but a plain no from her since he somewhat already got rejected.
she turned back and smiled widely with her gummy smile flashing, "sounds good!" and turned the corner waving at him. she was really a mood brighter. with that reply, he wanted to make tonight fun and a dream come true.

'oh that's right, I need to return some books' she reminded herself as she walked into the library before leaving home. with a confused face, she notice there was literally no students in the library expect for the librarians.
she ended up on the counter of the check out desk. taking her heavy textbook and a chapter book for reading class, she place it near the glass window.
"are these for check out or return?" Jungkook said as he reached his hand out to grab the books. she immediately stop zipping her backpack when she hears his voice, somehow it was attracting and hard not to look.
she eyed him but he didn't bother to do so back, as he just waited for her to reply, "it's for return" she said, questioning herself where she have heard this voice before. was it rude for him not to look when talking to her or was it rude for her to keep talking when he doesn't seem interested?
"please put your pin in" he said as she notice the small number pad in front of her. she quickly did as he said.
he scanned the book back and forth and the information appears on the screen as missing. he retired for about a couple of times and each time he did so, he got more and more furious.
"what's going on?" Jennie asked in need of wanting to help him.
he sighed loudly, "it says the book is missing but the book is here in my hand" he went back into refreshing out the website and then scanning it again.
"what's happening?" the librarian came from behind the check out area as she also notice the incident through her computer.
"it said the book is missing but have it here, just now" he explained briefly.
"well" she scroll down to look at the due date, "that's because the book is overdue, so the system automatically think it's missing. you'll have to use your ID to permission the system so that it'll let you scan as a return." the librarian said it out loud.
to Jennie, he looked like he was in a bad mood. he knew himself too.
"thank you" they both said in unison but didn't mean to.
"you're welcome. it's the last day here, aren't you both going to the dance? why are you guys still here? look, even the library is empty" the librarian chuckles, eyeing both of them who awkwardly stood on each side of the glass.
because Jennie stood on the outside of the check out area, she only awkwardly smile at them. as for Jungkook, he stayed silence of not wanting to go because of Jieun.
"dances was always fun in university, you will regret it if you don't go. trust me." she winked at them and then went back behind to her office.
as she did so, they both now were left in uncomfortable phases. "so are you going to the dance later?" Jennie had the guts to ask as he was really really down and she can sees it.
he finally raised his eyes at her. his eyes ran out of focus as he stares at her small face. by seeing her face after all this moment, he regrets not looking at her from the start, it was something else.
"me?" he said with a questioning face followed by a 'pft'
"hm!" she replied right after his look away face.
he shook his head, "I don't have a reason to go" he said, still remembering the feelings he felt when Jieun rejected him. it was hard for him to get it out of his head since she was really the first girl he have ever liked.
"a reason? hm.. maybe use the librarian words as a reason to go then" she suggested as he flashes a smirk and then went back to gluing his eyes on the desk.
somehow he was now in the erge to ask her back, "what about you? are you going?" he asked, glaring at her once again. this time he notice her eyes flickers and facial features stood out more.
"I am going since it's the last dance for this year. you still have about two more hours left to decided" she replied with half a smile before putting her backpack on fully. she was going to leave and he didn't hesitate to say his bye to her as she was someone who talked to him about the dance.
when she left, he sat there all alone again, "will I really regret it if I don't go?" he thought but it came out of his mouth. between going and not, he didn't know if he actually wanted to go or not. maybe if he goes then she would be the reason. 'what's her name?'
-----
Kiyoung and Jennie got off of the taxi. they were now in front of the dance event and many couples and girls have notice them standing next to each other.
"let's go in" Kiyoung said as he held out his arm for her to hold. it didn't turns out as he wanted when some of his friends who were girls came and pull him from the side of Jennie.
"Kiyoung, you said you were gonna be coming here alone? who's her? your date?" the girls blabber out to him.
Jennie glared as he faked his smile and ignore the questions, "you guys looks pretty today!" he complimented them in front of Jennie.
she didn't know what this bitter feelings was coming from but she definitely feel like an outcast to him as he compliments other girls in front of her. it doesn't feel like him.
"I'll go in first" Jennie said as she forced out a smile through her downfall face, glancing over to the girls and him.
"Jen- wait- Jen-" Kiyoung exclaimed in terms of wanting to go in with her but was being push and tease by his group of girl friends.
as Jennie walks into the event, everything was well decorated as the tables were far away from the dance floor. "this is so boring" she said to herself as she made her way through the crowd of people to the other side.
it took Kiyoung long enough to finally gets his friends off of him. now he was in a search of finding Jennie and apologize to her. he looked through the crowd of people's head as they all were on the dance floor.
"alright guys, welcome to the last dance of the year!" one of the students said as he was the one who host the dance. everybody clapped as Jennie suddenly looked towards the stage to listen. on the other hand, Kiyoung has also stop moving as he was also paying attention to the front.
"I want everybody to come to the dance floor, c'mon, you and you and you" the student said as he pointed to each of the person who was sitting.
Jungkook walked into the event as the last person to do so before the door closes. he notice that there were so many people on the dance floor and none was sitting. 'what are they doing' he slowly walks to join them but because the dance floor was filled, he stood along the sides.
"okay since everyone is now on the dance floor, the game is called 'finding nemo" he said as everybody laughed out loud, even Jennie, who giggles nonstop.
through the laughs of Jungkook, he randomly and accidentally laid his eyes upon Jieun. she was standing on the other side of the crowd with some of her girls friends.
he side eyed her every now and then because he was actually curious on who was the guy that asked her before him. but somewhat, no guys were around her, it was just a bunch of her girl friends.
"I'm joking, this game will be for the lonely people and single people who came without a date. If you came with a date you can still play, but only if both of you agrees" the student chuckles through the microphone and then cleared his throats before giving out the real game instructions.
"when I turn off the lights, you will have about 10 minutes to go around without seeing or noticing where you are going. when I open the lights, the person who is in front of you will be your partner for tonight" he explained as everybody became nervous and mumble within one another since it was a dangerous game as they might bump to each other or the wall.
Jennie picked up her long black dress and leave the dance floor as well as Jungkook who smirked and then walks off. within a split seconds, the lights switch off. it became dark as a slow song came on.
"10 minutes starts now!"
Jungkook really didn't want to play this but because of Jieun, he wanted to find her and be her partner for the night and so he began walking slowly to the other side.
Jennie started walking to the back of the dance floor as he was pretty sure Kiyoung would be there, sitting because he honestly hates these kind of games.
"3 minutes left"
many people bumps into each other and laugh and then go on, as for Jungkook, he feel like he pass through a lot of people but feel like he haven't reach the other side yet so he keeps walking more and more.
"and done!" the student said as he flicks the lights open.
it was disappointing to Jennie as she saw no one in front of her, she was literally at the back of the dance floor where nobody wondered about.
'so pretty' Jungkook's heart waver as was about five feet apart from someone with a long black dress that complimented her S-line so well. her hairs falls behind her back and gives her shoulder a beautiful angle to shows.
"the person in front of you is your partner, please introduce yourself"
Jungkook turned his head at the stage and then turned back only to see a pair of piercings eyes looking at him. the girl in front of him was now looking his way. 'what to do' he nervously squeeze his hand in sweat.
'is he my partner?' Jennie thought as she turned on the side and notice someone there facing her way. he had on a black suit with his hair parted, showing his forehead. the puff under his eyes lifts up a little telling her that he was smiling.
walking in unison towards each other, everything became more and more clear. 'that's right, he's the one from the checkout desk' she thought in surprise seeing him there.
'wasn't she the reason I came here' he thought, remembering from earlier. standing in front of each other, about two steps away, they glared nonstop as they both found each other's reflection in each eyes.
"what's.. your name?" he began, half smiling as his cheeks began to grow into two shining puff.
"Kim Jennie" she replied in term to his beautiful angelic smile. for the first time, she feels her stomach twist and turn and her face heated up. her heart race abnormally, jumping up and down inside of her.
"Jeon Jungkook" he said wanting her to know his name although she didn't ask. she was beautiful, so goddess that he forgot about Jieun, about others, and about the dance.
"I guess you're-"
"my partner?" Jungkook finishes the sentence with her.
both of them chuckles in awe and look away in shyness.
"just for tonight, let me be your partner..." he said with a faded smile. something about her was just so heart warming to be around, she looked happy and delightful to him, making him wants to get to know her. 'why am i feeling like this?' he couldn't stop blushing over and over after every giggles from her.
"if i let you, will you let me be your partner for tonight too?" she said wanting to also ask the same without sounding the same but it did came out the same.
he flashes his smile, showing his side dimples that appears prettily on his cheeks, "of course" he replied.
"Jen!" a panting voice said from behind her. Kiyoung skipped over to her and pulled her back by her hand, making her whole body flinch away from Jungkook. he was harsh but at the same time, gentle towards her.
"I like you." he said it out loud, still holding her hand, as Jennie raised her eyebrows at him with a widen eyes after a taken by surprise moment.
"I LIKE YOU!" Kiyoung repeated clearly after seeing her confused face. Jungkook's happy smile crashes onto the floor.
to be continue...
