The next day you wake up to Newt leaning over your face. You scream, shuffling backwards away from him. He just laughs.
"How long have you been in here?" you say, generally scared.
"Com'on greenie. We've gotta get you working."
You get up and slip into the combat boots at the end of the bed. Your taking your time tying the laces and Newt starts whining for you to hurry up.You just laugh at him, at make sure to tie even slower.
After a while you get up and walk out into the Glade. It's a beautiful sight. There's structures scattered around obviously built by the boys themselves, and a couple arrays of trees scattered around. The grass is green and the sky is blue and you just take a deep breath of the warm fresh air and can't help but feel just a little bit better. Everyone is already hard at work. You see a group of boys with backpacks run out of a gap in the huge 10 foot walls surrounding the area.
"What's out there?" You ask Newt.
"The maze," a voice behind you says.
You turn around and see Gally.
"Oh hi Gally!" You say with a smile.
"How the hell do you know my name greenie?" Gally frowns. "I don't recall ever introducing myself. You're not stalking me, are you?"
Newt laughs.
"I can hear just fine," you say. "Newt and Alby said some nice things about you yesterday. Got a temper, do you?"
Gally face gets red, his freckles disappearing in the blush.
Newt mock gasps. "Woah! Do my eyes deceive me? Is that a blush I see on your face?"
"Whatever klunkhead." Gally says, obviously embarrassed. He shoves passed you and Newt.
"Bye Gally!" You yell out, and when he looks back, you blow him a kiss. His faces turns a darker shade of blush.
You and Newt continue to walk, Newt nonstop talking about "Gally's new little crush". You just shake your head. Newt is as bad as a teenage girl with new gossip.
Newt drops you off with the Sloppers. Yep. It's as gross as it sounds.
"Well, have fun greenbean!" Newt walks away.
A boy about 12 years old comes to you. "Hi! I'm Chuck!"
"Hey Chuck. I'm Juno."
"Duh I know that. You're the greenie. You might as well be a shucking celebrity." Chuck laughs at his own joke.
The job was terrible, but Chuck is pretty funny so you somehow make it through the day.
But even as nice and funny Chuck is, you pray that you don't get this job. Sweeping up poop isn't all that fun.
