The next day, around noon, Johnny and Taeyong took Hyuck home. When talking to Taeyong the morning before, he had agreed to move back to the 127 dorm. Something he was currently regretting since he just remembered Mark would be there.
The reason Taeyong sent Johnny and Taeil instead of himself yesterday, was because he was helping Jaehyun move Hyucks things over so he could go straight home after being discharged from the hospital.
Hyuck was still in pain from the head injury so the boys had to assist him a little with getting places.
Once they got inside the dorm they helped Hyuck to the sofa where he got showered with his hyungs' love. They all told him about how much they missed him over the passed week and how they hope he feels better soon.
Hyuck smiled and accepted everything they said, hugging them in return.
Mark stood in the corner of the room and watched as Hyuck accepted everything. How he was hugging all the members. But mostly he watched his smile.
His sunshine was back. Though it wasn't his anymore. But he had plans to change that.
🕙
Over the rest of the day, Hyuck spent it in bed. He was told by the doctors to take it easy for a while. Hyuck didn't want to spend it in bed mind, if it wasn't for the fact that he got dizzy every time he stood up and Taeyong had strictly told him that he had to stay there, he would have been up and doing things.
Mark on the otherhand, had a very busy day. He was making arrangements for the day he had planned with Hyuck.
He planned it for Friday so the younger had a bit of time to get better, and maybe Mark could build up a small layer of trust before taking him out.
🕖
Over the corse of the week Hyuck was getting better. He was refusing to stay in bed and he could actually walk without stumbling now.
Mark and Hyuck had had a few crossings over that week, they lived in the same dorm now so they were bound to.
On the Thursday evening Mark approached Hyuck. He hadn't told the younger about the day he had planned.
"hey Hyuck, can I talk to you quickly after dinner" Mark asked as they all sat to eat in the kitchen.
Hyuck just smiled and nodded. As much as he didn't want to trust Mark, he couldn't help it. They had been through thick and thin together, but Hyuck had to be strong and wait for Mark to prove that Hyuck could trust and feel comfortable around him, so he wouldn't get hurt again.
🕙
After dinner the two boys went into the lounge, when the others all went to their rooms.
"what's up?" Hyuck asked, standing a little awkwardly in front of Mark.
"do you want to hang out tomorrow, I've already made plans so it would be kind of awkward if you said no" Mark giggled quietly.
"who else will be there?" Hyuck asked, he was pretty sure that Mark had no intentions of bringing anyone else but he thought he'd ask before making assumptions.
"I was thinking it could be just you and me?" Mark said, not sure if the younger would feel comfortable with it.
"sounds good, when do we leave?" Hyuck asked, a smile across his lips.
Mark was surprised that Hyuck agreed so quickly. "oh, um, 10am" Mark said, shocked at Hyucks response.
"OK, I'll see you in the morning Hyung" Hyuck sang while skipping off to his room.
Mark smiled to himslef. Mission 'get back sunshine' was a go.
🕘
Both boys woke the following morning to the alarms they had set. They got up, got washed, brushed their hair and put on some makeup.
Hyuck was about to cover his scar when he realised there was no point, there was now a massive one across the back of his head as well.
Hyuck looked at himself in the mirror and started pulling faces at himslef. He then stopped and just stared at his reflection. "don't screw this up now. Wait for the trust to build and for things to not be so awkward, then we can accept him" Hyuck said to himslef before smiling at his reflection that smiled back at him.
Mark put everything he needed for the day in his bag. He looked up at the bracelets on his desk. He thought about it for a minuet before putting them in the front pocket of his bag. He smiled to himself before walking into the corridor.
All the boys were already up and sat in the kitchen chatting. Mark and Hyuck grabbed a bit of breakfast and were now ready to go.
Mark opened the door and Hyuck walked through. Both boys had a good feeling about today.
🕚
When the boys got out of the car, Hyuck gave Mark a confused face. "Mark I know im the one who hit their head, but I'm pretty sure I don't like roller coasters or heights for that matter. You would have been better off bringing Johnny or Yuta with you, they love them" Hyuck said, while looking at the towering rides.
"I know, but I wanted to spend the day with you. Besides we are going somewhere else after so don't worry." In this moment Mark would normally take Hyucks hand in his own, but he knew he had to break down some of the trust barriers first.
The two walked into the park through the giant gates. At the moment the park was quite empty wich was a good thing.
Mark took Hyucks hand and dragged him to the one ride he wanted to take the boy on. It was the biggest ride in the park and it was the only one that mattered.
Before Hyuck could decline getting on the ride he was fastened in and couldn't move.
Mark looked at the frozen boy who was clutching onto the harness around him. Mark wasn't sure how his plan was going to go at first but he hoped that he wouldn't ruin it from the start.
The ride started moving and Hyuck flinched, grabbing Marks hand. Hyuck was squeezing it so hard Mark was sure one of his fingers was going to fall off.
As they got higher Mark could feel Hyuck grip lossening but could see him breathing heavier. Mark took Hyuck hand back in his own and held it as they came to the drop.
Both boys yelled as they went down the nighty degree drop. The ride went on for 2 minuets. Loop to loops, corkscrew parts, several more drops.
When they got off the ride Hyuck was silent. He had never been on such a large ride before, he was always to scared to even walk close to it. Not that he wasn't now, but he kind of wanted to do it again.
Mark looked at Hyuck, concerned expression on his face. "Hyuck, are you OK, im sorry, I thought it would be fun and i-"
"Can we go again? PLEASE!" Hyuck shouted. He was terrified of heights, but when Mark took his hand it felt like every thing was going to be okay and he could enjoy it.
Mark smiled and nodded his head as the two ran back to the ride, going around once more.
When they got off Mark took Hyucks hand in his own and started dragging him somewhere else. After being dragged for 2 minuets Hyuck shook his hand free. Mark was making his heart flutter and he didn't like it. He couldn't get distracted right now.
Mark looked at the younger but understood. Instead he just walked next to Hyuck. Hyuck was too busy looking at the map they were given to notice where Mark had taken them.
The boys entered a dark red and yellow tunnel that lead to a large room filled with people in strange and peculiar outfits.
And by that I mean clowns. Hyuck stood, frozen again. Hyuck hated clowns. The way their noses just look like a giant zit on the front of their face.
The way their smiles were always fake and when they smiled normally they just looked even creepier.
Hyuck hid behind Mark, making the older chuckle. He and Hyuck sat down in one of the aisles made from wooden boxes. They watched as the clowns messed around, pushing each other around.
What Hyuck hadnt noticed was that he was clinging to Marks arm but he slowly lossened up when Mark smiled at him.
Mark was having fun. Not only because of the clowns, though they were funny, it was because he was with Hyuck, and it wasn't awkward, it felt normal.
The two eventually left as more and more people piled in. On the way out was where the next part of Marks plan took place.
In the time the two of the boys had been at the park, it had gotten extreamily busy. Mark didn't want to do the next part of his plan but he had to for the whole thing to work.
When they got out of the clown section Mark strayed from the younger.
Hyuck looked around everywhere trying to find the boy. He was shaking now. Hyuck couldn't stand being in big crowds. With lots of people bumping you around, swarming around you. Hyucks anxiety started to kick in as he made his way through the crowd towards the entrance that he could just about make out from above the crowd.
By the time Hyuck got to the exit and found Mark stood their waiting, the younger had tears down his cheeks and was shaking.
He ran to Mark and wrapped his arms around the boys waist, pulling himself into the familiar chest.
Mark felt bad for doing it to Hyuck but the way he reacted after proved that Marks plan was working.
It sounded mean but it was with good intention.
Mark ran a hand through the younger boys hair and rubbed his back, "its okay, im here, im sorry for leaving but I'm here now" Mark said as the boy slowly stopped shaking in his arms.
Hyuck pulled away and brushed himself off. What was Mark doing to him? Hyuck was supposed to be trying not to let his emotions cloud his judgment, he didn't want to get hurt by Mark again but whatever was happening made Hyuck want to stay in Marks arms and just accept his apologies.
Hyuck wiped away his tears and stepped away from Mark who was now frowning. He was hoping that Hyuck would forgive him right there because he didnt want to put Hyuck through the whole thing but the younger was being stubborn.
The two walked out of the park, they had been there for two hours.
Once in the car Mark explained that they were going to the zoo next and Hyuck got exited.
Hyuck loved animals. Not all of them, but most of them. He was excited to see all the different cute creatures with their family's having fun.
When they arrived they were greeted by a zookeeper. Mark had asked them to help him with his plan and they had agreed.
Mark smiled as they were all introduced and the next part of his plan started to take place.
First off they walked around and saw the different types of monkeys and bears. They then made their way to the more important part of this activity.
The small group walked into a smaller, indoor section of the zoo where the spiders and reptiles were kept.
Hyuck normally avoided this part of the zoo. He hated spiders and snakes in particular. The way they moved just seemed abnormal and creeped Hyuck out. He hated them.
Little did he know today he would be getting closer to them than he ever thought he would.
The zookeeper took the two into a room aside from the main attractions. Hyuck was confused why they were there but just went with it.
"so, are you ready to hold them? Who's going first?" she asked as she picked up a spider. It was more than a spider, it was quite a large tarantula. Hyuck eyes widend as he saw the creature.
Mark smiled at the zookeeper. "could we hold it together?" He asked. Hyuck was now looking at Mark who gave him the most fake and anxious smile that Mark had ever received from the boy.
The zookeeper nodded and told Mark to stand next to Hyuck. Hyuck was cursing in his head so much in this moment. He was terrified of spiders and knew that Mark knew that.
Mark placed his hands under Hyucks to hold them up. Hyuck glared at Mark, but the boy just smiled in return.
Hyuck closed his eyes as the lady placed the spider in their hands. She started explaining the spider and talking about its species.
Mark was nodding as a sign that he was listening and understood. Hyuck on the other hand, was focused on not shaking and dropping the spider.
Mark could feel the boy starting to shake and took the spider from his hands. Hyuck let out a sigh of relief as Mark handed the spider back to the zookeeper. Mark giggled as he turned to see Hyuck breathing heavily.
Mark took Hyucks hand in his own and squeezed lightly before letting go again.
Hyuck wanted Mark to leave his hand were it was. He liked the comforting feeling of Mark holding his hand. He missed the boys touch.
Lucky for him, the zookeeper just pulled out a massive snake, sending Hyuck into Marks arms.
Mark laughed as he said that they didn't want to hold the snake. Hyuck was already a shivering mess in Marks arms.
He smiled down at the younger who had his face buryed in Marks chest, he pulled the younger away slightly and asked him if he wanted to leave to wich Hyuck quickly nodded.
While walking to the car outside the zoo, the boys were hand in hand. Mark then noticed small droplets falling from the sky. He mentally cursed at the gods when Hyuck let go of his hand to dance in the rain.
It didn't last long till there was a crash of thunder sending Hyuck running back to Mark.
Another thing Hyuck was scared of was thunder and lightning, which was weird considering rain was his favourite weather.
The boys climbed into the car and Hyuck was left shivering in Marks arms. He was terrified, his heart was beating so fast. Today was becoming too much.
Mark was happy with the situation until he noticed that the younger had tears falling from his eyes. He was shaking in Marks grip. He just held the boy closer to him. He wasn't going to let go. This meant his plan was working, though he obviously didn't plan for the thunder storm.
They had one more activity before Marks final step.
They arrived at a small building in a small neighbourhood.
Hyuck was really confused when he got out of the car. The thunder and lightning had stopped now but it was still raining which made Hyuck calm down. Watching the droplets roll down the window was relaxing to the boy.
Mark took Hyucks hand and dragged him to a house, knocking on the door.
Hyuck flinched as a loud sound came from the house. His grip on Marks hand tightened as the barking got louder. Hyuck hid behind Mark as the door swung open revealing a lady holding a small dog in her arms.
"ah, you must be Mark, come in!" She said, inviting the two in. It took Mark a second to convince the younger to actually come into the house but he followed closely, refusing to let go of Marks hand.
As they walked in they arrived at a room. The lady brought the two inside. Hyuck tensed up even more when they entered the room.
It was filled with dogs. Another one of Hyucks biggest fears. He was scared of dogs because when he was younger he was chased by a dog that bit him once it caught him.
Mark knew Hyuck was scared of dogs so why did he bring him here?
The two sat on the sofa as the dogs played in the room. Hyucks hand still not letting go of Marks.
Mark could feel the boy shaking again. Mark ran his thumb over the top of the boys hand, calming him a little.
Hyuck slowly calmed down until a rather large husky walked up to him slowly. Mark smiled and started petting the dog. He kept trying to convince Hyuck to do the same but the boy just shook his head and pulled his feet up onto the sofa.
Mark giggled at how cute Hyuck looked. He took the hand that Hyuck was grasping onto and held their hands out for the dog.
The dog sniffed Hyucks hand and then kicked it making Hyuck giggle because it tickled. Mark couldn't help but smile at Hyuck, he was now cautiously stroking the dog.
Hyuck smiled at Mark, he was proud of himself and Mark was proud of him to.
The two sat and talked to the lady about the dogs while drinking tea.
By the time it was time to go, Hyuck had three small dogs sat on him and the huskys head resting in his lap.
Mark giggled as he noticed the younger had fallen asleep like that. He thanked the lady and woke Hyuck giving him a piggy back to the car.
Mark told Hyuck he could sleep in the car as they had a one hour drive to Marks final destination.
Hyuck rested his head in Marks lap as the older played with his hair.
As it got dark on their way, Mark was mentally preparing himself for the final step to his plan.
🕕
As they pulled up outside a building, Mark lightly shook Hyuck to wake him.
When they got out the car Hyuck looked up at the tall building in front of him. Mark took his hands and started leading the boy up all the stairs.
When they arrived at the roof Mark smiled before opening the door to reveal a replica of the layout they had that night in LA.
Hyuck had a similar reaction but was slightly reluctant to do anything.
He stepped out onto the astroturfed roof and looked back at Mark who followed him through.
"Mark what is this?" Hyuck asked, confused as to what was happening.
"Hyuckie. I understand that it is going to be hard for you to ever truly forgive me for what I did, but there is no way for me to apologise enough. Today you may have notice that alot of your fears were involved. And I'm just going to say sorry now, but it was all for a reason" Mark said as he and Hyuck sat down near the ledge.
"Today, I planned to prove to you that you can trust me and prove that I will always be there for you, even when you're scared, I will be there. When you are sad, I will be there. And I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me most. But I can't change that. But I wanr you to know from now on, I will always be there for you, no matter whats going on" Mark said, looking out over the city.
Hyuck thought about everything that had happened that morning. That's when it clicked. Mark had made him scared and feel uneasy but then he was also always there to comfort him afterwards.
As much as Hyuck wanted to punch Mark for making him go through that, he understood why. And he was right. As the day went on Hyuck felt more comfortable around Mark. He also knew that each time he was scared he could go to Mark and he would be there for him.
"I hope you can trust me again" Mark said making the younger look back at him.
"I'm sorry, " Hyuck said. This scared Mark. Why was he saying sorry? Could he still not trust him?
