"Huh? He's gone..?" You look around. Inosuke is knowhere in sight. "He was just here..." you mumble to yourself.
"I'm... such a crybaby..." you say walking inside rubbing your eyes.
You were always a crybaby, you got so emotional over little things. You wish you could just toughen up, be someone strong... like... Inosuke. This is another reason you wanted to become a demon slayer, to stop being so weak. You wanted to change.
You yawned "Today was weird... I'm probably dreaming." You shrug and nuzzle yourself in your bedsheets.
You immediately fell asleep.
...
You wake up to the birds singing. You yawn and sit up. "That was a weird dream..." you mumbled to yourself.
You slide out of bed and put on some clothes to get ready for the day. It's your first day of training, your nervous yet excited.
"(Y/N)!" Your mother calls.
"Yeah?" You reply.
"I'd like you the please water the flowers in the garden outback then we can get breakfast and begin our training!" She said.
"On it!" You reply, heading into the garden.
You picked up the watering can, and filled it with water. It's a lovely day out. Why do you need to water the flowers? They look beautiful already. You take a deep breath in through your nose.
Smells like curry rice.
Was that dream you had real..? No no you're just still thinking about the dream is all, or you're just hungry.
...
After finishing watering the flowers, and eating breakfast, it was time for training to begin.
"First things first, we need to test you to see if you are worthy of becoming a demon slayer." Mom said. "You know the mountains by our house, correct?"
"Yes ma'am" you nod.
"Okay, we need to run as far as we can up the mountain until I say we stop, understand? No resting breaks" she said.
"Okay!" You reply.
"Alright, now we go, follow me!" She says and runs.
You both are dashing up the mountain, fast, you didn't realize how fast your mom was. Well, you never saw the side of her as a demon slayer.
...
"A-are we *pant* almost there?" You say trying as hard as you can to keep up, trying to control your breathing.
"I cannot tell you that while we are testing" your mother insists.
Right right, it's just like school I can't ask questions during a test. You think to yourself. Your legs are starting to really hurt and it's already noon. You try to breathe steadily. Then your mother halts.
"Alright we can stop here" she smiles. Coming to a stop.
You stop, almost falling forward. But strain yourself to stay straight.
"What's next?" You ask, looking up at your mother.
How is she so calm? How is she not out of breath? It makes no sense...
"Okay, now I need you to get all the way down before dark." Your mother said
"Oh? Easy!" I smile, "If I get down before dark I win?" I ask.
"Haha yes, but I cannot be with you, you have to do this on your own now." She says, disappearing into the fog. "See you soon"
"All right I can do this! This'll be easy!" You say running down the mountain, but suddenly you trip on a wire. "Ah!! Ow!"
Looking at what trips you your eyes widen. "Traps!" You make a run for it. It's okay it's okay, you have a pretty keen sense of well, sense! You can tell when certain things are near you, you can internally feel their presence, your good at telling what the presence is exactly.
Now that you have the traps presence you can know where they are, but you aren't skilled to exceptionally dodge them.
Trap on the right, dodge, trap on the left, dodge, trap on the bottom jump! Trap in the air, duck!
You can do this. You can do this, as long as you can sense their presence everything will all go according to plan.
Trap in the middle!! Crap! You get hit in the head by some rocks, ouch, I'm okay, I'm okay. I see what test this is. The traps are the demons, the running to get there before a certain time represents saving someone. And you have to dodge the demons attacks of course.
This is going to change me, this will make me stronger, smarter, and much more. I'm not doing this only for my parents sake but everyone's sake! Tons of people around the world have been hurt physically and emotionally by demons, I won't let that happen to anyone!
But most importantly, I'm doing this for me!
...
"Hm... she's almost here..." mother says then humming a tiny little toon.
The door opens.
All eyes are on you. Kyou is here, Aru is here and your mother of course.
"I... did it.." you said almost collapsing on the ground. Your out of breath, everything is silent, you're bruised nearly everywhere. Nobody is talking, nobody's saying anything, did I fail? Are they disappointed? Did I do something wrong?
"(Y/N) WELCOME BACK!!!" Kyou said hugging you, you almost fell over.
"GOOD JOB (Y/N)!!" Aru buddy buddy punches you.
"Hahaha ow.." you laugh
"YOU DID IT! YOU DID GREAT!" They both said throwing compliments at you.
"(Y/n)" Your mother says walking up to you. Everyone else stops talking and moves away from you so your mother can speak.
She has tears in her eyes, and she's forming the most happiest smile.
"Mom?" You say making a nervous smile. "Y-you okay?"
She gets on her knees and pulls you into her arms. "I'm so proud of you..!" She chokes up. Hugging you so tight it hurts. You indulge the pain. You don't want to stop your mother from being so happy.
She let's go of the embrace, staring at you with the most blissful smile and cupped both your cheeks. "You are such a brave girl (y/n) I couldn't ask for a better daughter."
Your choked up. Trying not to cry. She's really proud of you. She's really really proud of you. She believes in you. She loves you.
"Please, as a reward I want you to have this, she removes a pin on her clothing. It's gold, tiny diamonds encrusted on the middle of the flower. It was beautiful.
"I want you to have this, it's been passed down to every daughter in our family who becomes a demon slayer, it's a sign of love, luck, and courage." Mother says pinning it on your clothing.
"Don't loose it." She says seriously, looking deep into your (e/c) eyes.
"I promise I won't." You nod.
"The boys are here to celebrate" she looked at Kyou and Aru.
"Yeah! (Y/n) you never told me you wanted to be a demon slayer!" Kyou pouted.
"Well I kinda... barely just decided, but.. don't get the wrong idea! I think I made the right, choice, there's gonna be an awful lot of hard work but it's worth it in the end, saving all those people." You say confidently.
"This sounds kinda stupid but uh, I mean I'd love to join you in your work, I personally find it cool, but I want to keep business going in my parents bakery.. ya know?" Kyou said looking a bit embarrassed.
"That sounds fun! I bet you'll be a great cook Kyou!" You give him a pat on the back, his cheeks flush red.
"Y-yeah, I hope so too.." He smiles looking at you shyly.
"Our family is gonna go on a trip to meet our grandfather in a few years before we start as official bakers. he's the best baker in the family and he wants to teacher us some of his recipes. he lives in a city down south of here" Aru says raising a finger.
"What are you guys excited the most to make?" You ask them, both of their eyes perk up at you excitedly.
"I really wanna make some fancy Nerikiri!" Aru blurts out. "The decorations are beautiful and you can get so creative..." Aru says
"Taiyaki, I've always loved Taiyaki, it seems so kiddish. But I really really love it, and to actually make it seems so exciting." Kyou smiles.
"I'll make sure to stop by you guys's bakery once I'm on break from my demon slayer duties!" You smiled proudly.
"I wanna eat some (favorite dessert)!" You exclaim.
"Alright now, I hate to make you boys leave so soon but me and (y/n) need to discuss our training" mom says, with a sad laugh.
"We understand ms. (L/n) bye (y/n) we'll drop by as soon as we can!" Kyou waves goodbye.
"Later (y/n)! Good luck with training! We believe in you!" Aru also says on his way out the door.
"Bye guys!" You smile
Today, for the first time, you felt really really proud, you showed your bravery, you showed your strength. You proved how capable you are.
You are ready to become (y/n) (l/n) a demon slayer.
