~No one's P.O.V~
Y/n had found her way back to the sanitary, her head placed comfortably on her arms as she lay in the grass, dragons surrounding her.
She had her eyes closed, feeling at peace. More than she had in years. The only things around her were dragons, big and small. The grass tickling her cheeks and neck, and the cold breeze from the dragons beating their wings.
People never understood why Y/n felt so at peace around creatures unlike her. And she didn't either, but she never complained.
It seemed like home. It felt like home.
Her eyebrow twitched as she heard footsteps approach her, disturbing her quite time, "I'm fine Hiccup, I just need some time." She said, her eyes still closed, sighing as she listened to the dragons' breathing.
"You don't seem fine, dear." Y/n's eyes snapped open upon hearing the feminine voice, she turned her head up to see Valka standing above her with a smile, "Hiccup was worried sick when you disappeared."
"Hmm." Was the thing leaving her mouth as she closed her eyes yet again, "I didn't mean to." It was a popular sentence in Y/n's mind. One she had used ever since she was little, "Make him worried, I mean." She clarified with a sigh.
Y/n could clearly hear the sound of Valka's silent giggles along with the sound of the grass moving beside her, "I know you didn't, dear." Her voice was soft and gentle, as if she didn't want to break the silence, "So, why did you?"
"I don't know." Y/n answered with a sigh, not really feeling like talking to Hiccup's mother.
"That's... Not really an answer, dear." Valka said, having taken a seat beside Y/n.
"You don't need to know, it's not important." Y/n said, pulling her legs a little up.
Silence followed for a moment, Calka starred at the girl, wondering if she should do what she had in thought or not.
Y/n heard a sigh leave the mother's mouth, followed by a humming that soon turned into a familiar song.
Our Hero, our Hero,
Claims a warrior's heart
I tell you, I tell you,
The DragonBorn comes
Valka sang ever so lowly, making Y/n stiffen. Her eyebrows knitted together as she continued.
With a Voice wielding power
Of the ancient Nord art
Believe, believe,
The DragonBorn comes
Y/n's eyes opened, revealing her (e/c) orbs to be staring at Valka, who had closed her eyes as she sang.
It's an end to the evil
Of all Skyrim's foes
Beware, beware,
The DragonBorn comes
Dragons seemed to land around them, laying down as if a story was getting told.
The Bewilderbeast's head slowly turned to them, studying as the girl slowly sat up.
For the darkness has passed
And the legend yet grows
You'll know, you'll know,
The DragonBorn's come
Y/n's eyes started to glow, unbeknownst by herself, the eyes on her mark glowed along with her.
Ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-hah
Ah-ah-hah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah
She looked around at the dragons as she began to sing, her mind pushing out the words before she could even register them.
Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin
Naal ok zin los vahriin
(DragonBorn, DragonBorn
By her honor is sworn)
Valka smiled as the girl stood up, taking slow steps around the circle of dragons.
Wah dein vokul
Mahfaeraak ahst vaal
(To keep evil forever at bay)
Dragons around her stood up, roaring as if cheering for her words, Valka stood up, her staff held loosely in her hand as she smiled at the scene.
Ahrk fin norok paal graan
Fod nust hon zindro zaan
(And the fierce foe rout
When they hear triumph's shout)
Valka smiled, her hand wrapped around her stomach, the one holding her staff stretched out as she bowed. The other dragons followed her, bowing their heads.
The last words left Valka's mouth instead of Y/n's.
Dovahkiin,
Fah hin kogaan mu draal
(DragonBorn,
For you blessing we pray)
The glow in Y/n's eyes slowly dulled down to nothing as she looked at Valka, a weird smile plastered on her lips as the brown-haired woman stood up from her bow.
"Its you, isn't it?" Y/n asked, the smile not fading even a little bit, "You're the woman that used to come to my village." Valka stayed silent, but a grin slowly spread across her pink lips and she nodded.
"You sure have grown." Valka wrapped her arms tightly around Y/n. She simply placed her hands on Hiccup's mother's waist, softly pushing her away.
"Y-You have to tell me everything you know about this! About me! I have so many questions I-"
"Relax, take a breath before you talk." Valka cut her off, holding onto her shoulders. Y/n paused, her eyes averting down as she nodded.
Sitting down once again, Y/n took a deep breathe as Valka sat beside her.
"The DragonBorn is a pretty heavy title to carry." Valka started, looking over at the different dragons. Shadow went up to Y/n's side, nudging her hand. She started to caress her head.
"The DragonBorn, the one person who's supposed to keep peace between Human and Dragon." Valka spoke in a soft tone as Shadow purred under Y/n's hand.
"To forever unite the two worlds or keep them apart in peace. The DragonBorn is the perfect mix between Dragon and Human." Valka said, making Y/n frown at her words.
"The Dragon don't belong, yet belong everywhere. To keep peace, or to break it apart." Valka turned to Y/n, who was looking at her with a raised brow, "To make home."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Y/n sighed out, she had been trying to figure out her entire life, she didn't feel like solving a riddle.
"Protect Human and Dragon alike. That's your goal, your mission." Valka answered the girl, her eyes widened, her head snapping back to Valka, who was only smiling, her eyes on the Bewilderbeast.
"Yeah, that might be too much to carry right now." She grumbled, leaning on Shadow, who cooed at her.
"Why would you say that?" Valka asked with curious eyes, shaking her staff a little.
"I can't even keep peace at Berk... How am I supposed to keep peace everywhere at once?" Y/n asked slowly, her eyes shifting to her thumbs, which she were playing with.
Valka could sense the distress in Y/n's voice as she spoke. Her body seemed tense, but shaking. As if she was scared of something, "Y/n, is... This about something else?"
"What? No. Of course not." She shook her head, she answered fast and quickly, too quickly she knew in fact.
"Y/n, what aren't you telling me?" Valka asked, her motherly instincts turning on within her, "I know something's wrong."
"It's just... You said I was the perfect mix between Human and Dragon." Shadow nuzzled into her side as she talked, "Then... Why do I feel so... Weird among Humans?" She asked, lifting her head to look at the brown-haired woman.
"I'm not sure. Maybe because of the way you used to live? Or because you have a stronger connection to dragons?" Valka guessed along with the girl.
"Then I don't wanna be the DragonBorn." Y/n stated firmly, making Valka's eyes widen with worry and curiosity.
"Y/n, it's not something you can choose not to be." Valka replied, shaking her head. She could still see the hesitation in Y/n's eyes.
"But..." She trailed off, taking ahold of her left arm, "The thing is... I truly feel like everything I say or do is always wrong." She muttered almost too low for Valka to hear, her eyes half lidded, "Like I'm the biggest disappointment to everyone." She said, her grip tightening to the point where it hurt.
Her head shot upward, "All I ever do is letting people down." She stated harshly, her body shaking, but of what, she nor Valka knew, "And if end up carrying the goal, I'll let even more people and dragons down! I can't do that! I'm just... Me." She shouted, absurdly standing up, shocking Shadow.
"Y/n!" Valka used her staff to push herself off the ground and follow the younger girl, grinning onto her wrist, "Y/n." She stopped in her tracks, "Don't be ashamed of who you really are."
Valka pulled her wrist, not to hard but just enough to make Y/n turn around to look at her, "As long as you're happy with yourself, no one else's opinion matters."
Y/n's tongue darted out to lick her dry lips, "That's the problem." She said, shaking her head, "I'm not happy at all. I feel empty." She told the woman, who slowly loosened her grip on her wrist.
She laughed a little, putting a smile on her lips, "I feel tame." She turned to look over her shoulder, Shadow stood behind her, waiting for her, "I'd rather be flying." Silence filled the air between them.
The sound of wings beating and dragon sounds could still be heard along with the sounds of the hatchlings chirping and playing.
"Tell me. If I'm the DragonBorn, should I stay there? Do I belong there?" Y/n asked the woman, her hands clenched by her sides. Waiting for the answer she had longed to hear from someone for so long.
Valka's eyes shifted to Shadow, who looked at her with big blue eyes, "No. I'm sorry." She shook her head thoughtfully, "The DragonBorn doesn't belong at one place. You don't belong at Berk."
Finally, a small smile plastered her lips, a genuine happy one, "I didn't think so. I've been feeling out of place for a long time." She giggled, almost nervously, "But... I can't leave Hiccup."
Valka's green eyes studied Y/n, "You know, my son cares a lot about you." She started, making Y/n focus on her, "If you decide on leaving. Make sure to tell him, okay?" She smiled a little sad smile, "Things can change faster than you think. It happens in a blink."
"I know." Y/n answered, crossing her arms over her chest, leaning on her right foot.
"Now, go find Hiccup. I'm sure he want to talk to you." Valka smiled, leaning on her staff.
"Yeah..." Y/n rubbed the back of her neck nervously, "That's what I'm scared of."
~No one's P.O.V~
Ever so silently, the gang sneaked past the entrance the mouth of a broken mountain. Making sure to go unseen.
When they got close enough, Astrid made Stormfly drop Eret Son of Eret into the freezing cold snow. After a second, Eret realized a dragon no longer was holding him back.
He pushed himself off the new fallen snow and began to run, desperate to get away from his capturers.
However, the Deadly Nadder had other plans, deciding to sit on him, his arms captured between her sharpened claws.
"Agghh! Okay! I got you here, now get this thing off me!" Eret called out in irritation, clawing onto the snow and ground, trying to get away from the large beast above him.
Astrid ignored him, simply picking up her axe before getting off of Stormfly's saddle, turning her axe in her hand carelessly as she began to walk towards Drago's camp.
She turned her upper body to the trapper, "Never take a toy from a dragon." She lectured, pointing at him, "Don't you know anything?" She asked, turning back around with a smile.
"Gah!" The man groaned, "Why dies this keep happening to me?" Eret asked as Stormfly pulled snow to him with her wings, burying him in it before wrapping her wings around him like a mother dragon would its egg.
Astrid went up the ice-hill, the rest of the gang following in her steps, she leaned close to the ground, avoiding to be seen as she gazed down at their... Camp.
Ship upon ships were filling the deep waters, some big, others small. The sound of men shouting to one another. But what caught most of their attention was the middle, where massive bubbles kept surfacing, making the water move more frankly and the ship's close to it move a lot more.
"What's down there?" Astrid asked with a questioning look in her blue eyes.
Fishlegs stood up, pulling his cards out of his belt-pocket on his stomach, shuffling through them all, "Large diameter of bubbles, massive lungs, cold water deep dweller, I'm thinking class five leviathan, maybe six." He said, holding up different cards, not sure of which one to settle on.
Their attention was pulled away when Stormfly stood up in alarm, letting the out a squawk. She was quick to make her escape, releasing Eret, who got up, immediately pulling his dagger and sword.
The group of Dragon Trappers Stormfly had sensed came out of their hiding, not taking even a second before blowing darts at the dragons, hitting their backs or necks. The dart followed their purpose and the dragons fell to the ground, knocked out.
With the shout of their dragon's name, the Riders ran down to them, but quickly found themselves surrounded and outnumbered, taking account that they were barely armed.
Fishlegs was quick to be the first to throw his arms into the air, letting his many cards slowly fall to the snow covered ground.
~No one's P.O.V~
Not long after, the gang was taken to one of the ships, the largest one in the float.
A man was crouched over the side of the ship, his face hidden behind the shadow of his thick dreadlocks of his black hair. A cape of black dragon skin draped over his shoulders.
"Drago!" Eret's voice made the tall man stand up fully, turning around to face the approaching people, "Get off me!" Eret writhed his arm out of the right grip of one of the Dragon Trappers, sending a quick glare at him before turning back to the man he called his boss, "Always great to see you, my friend! Keeping warm up here?" He asked as confidently as he could, a crew member came up from behind him, removing all of his weapons.
Drago began to approach the group, his slow steps seemed almost like torture to Eret. As he passed two dragons with metal helmets on, they bowed their heads down, almost touching the ship's floor, as they whimpered in fear.
"Well, as you can see, I'm right on time with a new batch of dragons, just like I promised." Eret gestured to the gang's dragons, who were all tied down to keep them in place.
"He's waking up!" One of the soldiers shouted once Hookfang lifted his head, as soon as he gained his sight, he hit one of the men away by hit head. The other one held onto the ropes, trying to pull him down, "Give me some backup here!"
Hookfang hissed at the man, making a smile creep onto Drago's parted lips, "Drop the ropes." He ordered. They did as told, quickly dropping them and got away before Hookfang could snap with his mouth.
Hookfang narrowed his eyes at the approaching man, his pupils dilated as he blasted Drago with his powerful fire, but the man didn't even flinch, instead, he lifted his cape of dragon skin in front of him, shielding himself from the fire. He was still approaching him.
When Hookfang was out of fire, he was forced to stop and Drago lowered his cape back to his side.
Eret chuckled nervously, his hand slowly going up to his burnt chest.
As Hookfang roared at the man, he was handed his bullhook from a crew member. In response, Drago roared loudly at the dragon, making the other flinch, he began swinging his bullhook over his head as he got closer before hitting it into the ship's floor.
Hookfang' usually fierce-filled eyes were now filled with fear as they looked down at the ground, he slowly lowered his head to the planks, showing submission.
The lunatic, however, placed his foot on his snout, pressing it further into the deck, pressing the remains of fire out of him, smoke coming out of his mouth and snout.
"Hookfang!" Snotlout called out to his dragon, worry filling his eyes.
"Hey!" Ruffnut shouted in anger and sadness.
"What are you doing?!" Astrid demanded. She could feel her blood boiling as she tried to get her wrists out of the rope.
"You belong to me now." Drago stated to the dragon with a low, dangerous voice, pressing on his snout in - almost - a form of kick.
Drago' eyes went from the dragon itself to the saddle on its back, "And as an added bonus, I also caught their riders." Eret chirped in with his hand held up, gesturing to the Dragon Riders behind him, "No extra charge." He smirked, making a gun with his fingers at Drago.
"What?! Are you kidding me?!" Astrid asked, her blood boiling as it never had before.
"Aww! But you were so perfect!" Ruffnut complained, throwing her head back.
"Turns out, there's a whole bunch of them out there." Eret told him, making the man growl, "They-" Drago grabbed Eret by his throat, cutting his air-supply as he tightened his grip, "How many?" He questioned in a low voice.
"Drago doesn't have them after all." Astrid muttered to the others. Her eyes shifting down in thought.
"HOW MANY?!" Drago demanded, lifting the trapper from the floor.
"Hundreds!" Astrid chirped in, "A whole island full!" Her voice was loud and confident.
Eret coughed, "I wouldn't worry about it." He reassured, Drago's grip on his throat tightened, choking him harsher, "My men are hunting them down as we speak. They won't know where you're hiding. I promise you that."
Astrid shook her head, taking a step forward, "Oh, yes they will!" Drago dropped Eret, letting him fall to the ground and breathe.
Astrid continued to walk towards him, gaining more courage with every step, "They know we're missing and they have tracking dragons. If you as much as touch us, Y/n and Hiccup are gonna-"
"Hiccup and Y/n?!" Drago cut her off.
"They're not a problem." Eret stated, his voice hoarse from being choked, "Really. Trust me." He said, his eyes nervously shifting between the two.
"Hiccup's the son of Stoick the Vast... His heir to the throne of Berk!" Astrid said, at the mentioning of Stoick's name, the man growled.
"Y/n is our leader... Known all across the archipelago for her relation to dragons... The greatest Dragon Master this world has ever seen!"
"Oh no..." Left Eret's mouth in a mutter.
"Dragon Master?! I ALONE control the dragons!" Drago spat in her face, his bullhook firmly held in his hand.
"Nope." Tuffnut shook his head.
"Sorry!" Fishlegs added and they all laughed
She stared firmly, looking around at the fleet, "And unless you let us go, right now, they will blast through here on their Night Furies and blow your entire fleet of ships to splinters!" She threatened the tall man.
"Then they'll be crying like babies!" Ruffnut added confidently, making the three boys laugh.
"Funny and beautiful."
"Good one, babe."
Sounded from Snotlout and Fishlegs, making the blonde twin groan in annoyance and disgust.
"Yeah. Like babies. They always cry. Real tiny ones..." Tuffnut trailed off.
"And with the DragonBorn on our side... We can't lose." Astrid stated, leaning in to the man, whose eyes widened at the mentioning.
"The DragonBorn?!" With a furious expression, Drago picked Eret up from the floor, "First there was one rider. And now all of Berk. And YOU led them to me!" He shouted, throwing Eret across the deck.
"Drago!" Eret crawled up on his hands and knees, calling out his name to try and redeem himself.
"STOP ALL PREPARATIONS!" Drago screamed out to his followers, making his way to higher floors, "WE MUST ATTACK THE DRAGON RIDER'S NEST AT ONCE!" He looked around at them, nodding his head, "WE WILL TAKE DKWN THEIR ALPHA... AND THEN WE WILL TAKE BERK!" Cheers spread out through the crew.
Astrid looked around them, fear filling her body as she realized what her little 'speak' had done.
She just risked Berk.
"You're overreacting!" Eret shouted up to the man, finally gaining the power to stand on his own feet again.
"And get rid of him." Drago pointed at the man, slowly turning away.
"Drago, please..." Eret pleaded, his hands up to defend himself as he backed away from the approaching warriors.
A few threw their weapons, and before the ex-trapper could even think of dodging, Stormfly landed above him, shielding him from the weapons with her wings as she hit them with her tail.
Her spikes went out, and she whipped her tail at them, but right after the attack, her neck was left unprotected, and a dart found its way into her thick scales. Making her fall to the ground. Unconscious.
"STORMFLY!" Astrid called out to her as she collapsed, "NO!" She struggled against the man's hold on her ropes, trying to get to her best friend.
Eret stumbled to his feet, his eyes wide as he gazed down at the blue Nadder.
