Y/N's POV:
Courtney and I are writing the script for an upcoming EBE and she has for reason trusted me to write the last scene by myself. I think I've got a good outline but I'm not so sure if the joke is obvious enough that people will actually understand it.
"Court, what do you think of this?" I push the laptop towards Courtney and she reads through what I've just written.
"I think it's good!" She replies after reading it.
"You think so? I'm still not sure..." I purse my lips.
"Well then let's get a second opinion..." As Courtney says this Shayne walks through the door, "Hey, Shayne! Come here."
Shayne smiles and comes over to sit beside me. I'm glad that Shayne is going to read this because he's really funny so he'll give a good insight into whether or not the joke is good. But, the issue is also the fact that he's really funny and he might think it's stupid and not funny which means I'm a terrible writer.
"What's up?" Shayne asks.
"Read this scene. Is the joke obvious or are people not going to get it?" I ask him. I push the laptop towards him and he starts reading through it. I'm watching him as he reads it to try to judge his face and see what he thinks but he's not giving much of a reaction. He lets out a small laugh but I don't know if that was a pity laugh or if he actually liked it.
"Well?" I ask.
"I think it's great." Shayne smiles and I'm so relieved.
"Really? 'Cause it's the first scene I've written and I wasn't sure if-" I start to ramble but Shayne cuts me off and smiles at me so I know he's being genuine.
"It's great. You did a really good job." Shayne says. I heave a sigh a relief and smile at him before turning back to the laptop to add some finishing touches.
As I'm reading through the script one last time Courtney and Shayne go out into the hallway to talk.
"What's that about?" I ask the others.
"I have no clue. They always seem suspicious to me." Keith shrugs.
"Courtney's probably just getting him to analyze a dream she had. Ya know, because he does psychology or whatever." Olivia laughs and so does Noah.
"I didn't know Courtney slept." Noah says.
I laugh lightly and turn my attention back to my laptop. I log into Facebook and scroll through my feed. There's a lot of fights in the comment sections of posts, which reminds me why I don't go onto Facebook often.
Shayne and Courtney come back into the room and Shayne sits down on a beanbag chair and goes on his phone. I see him glance up at me and I quickly turn my attention Courtney who has sat back down beside me and faces me.
"So, girl talk. What's up with you and Shayne? Be honest." Courtney whispers.
"Uh, specify what you want to hear." I whisper back.
"Like, romantically. That night at Disney when we left you? How did you feel about that?" Courtney asks.
"It was nice. Comfortable. He is so great and so much fun to be around. I had a really good time." I smile, remembering how he held my hand on Space Mountain, and gave me his jacket, and how we snuggled up to each other while we waited for the Uber.
"Soooo, does this mean you like him?" Courtney whispers.
I pause before answering, I know the answer immediately but I don't know if I should say, "Yeah. I guess I do." I smile.
"That is so great. You know I ship you two. You should act on it!" Courtney squeals quietly.
"Listen, I'm just gonna keep doing what I've been doing. Nothing drastic." I giggle and stand up to make my way over to Shayne. He's staring at the ceiling like he's got a lot on his mind. I sit down beside him and he smiles.
"Hey! What are you up to?" I ask.
"Not much. Just, uh, thinking about how many goats I could fit in a minivan." Shayne says and I look into his blue eyes. and wonder how he's so funny without even trying.
"That's interesting." I laugh.
"Yeah well, I'm a very interesting person." Shayne chuckles. I couldn't agree more.
"Clearly." I smile and rest my head on his shoulder. I pull out my phone and feel his muscles tense up before instantly relaxing again. I scroll through Instagram for a few minutes, my head on Shayne's shoulder, and his resting slightly on mine, and then he jumps up quickly. I watch as he runs out of the room and I see him follow after Ian who just walked by. I look at the others and they all just shrug.
"That was weird right?" Olivia asks.
I nod, "Scared the crap out of me because it was so sudden."
"Just some important business to attend to I guess." Courtney smiles.
I can hear Ian's and Shayne's voices but I can't hear a word they're saying. Judging by the way Shayne jumped up it must've been urgent, I hope everything's okay.
A few minutes later Courtney gets a call and leaves the room to answer it. Either I'm going crazy or both her and Shayne are acting very weird today.
Ian pops his head into the room, "Hey guys. Y/N can you send me that script you were working on? If you're done that is."
"Sure! I'll do that now." I reply.
"Thanks." Ian smiles and leaves the room.
I go back over to my desk and send the document to Ian. Courtney comes back into the room with a smile plastered on her face.
"Why do you look so happy?" Noah asks.
"Can't a girl just be happy?" Courtney laughs.
"Sure, but your happiness is quite sudden." Olivia says.
"Where'd Shayne disappear to?" Keith asks.
"Oh um, he's helping Matt Raub get a few things set up in the studio." Courtney replies. Matt Raub walks by at that exact moment and waves to us. I wave back and look at Courtney suspiciously.
"So, uh, there's Matt Raub. On the opposite side of the building than the studio." I raise my eyebrows.
"Right. Did I say Matt Raub? I meant Sarah." Courtney says. Perfectly timed I hear Sarah shout.
"Matt! Did you eat my yogurt out of the fridge?!" Sarah yells.
"Maybe! Suck it up!" Matt Raub yells back.
"I can't because you sucked up all my yogurt!"
"I saw it as a gift for being such an amazing producer! But really Sarah, there's no need to thank me."
"I'm an amazing producer! I deserve that yogurt but you ate it!"
"Aren't you lactose intolerant?!"
"Yes! I am! But I still like yogurt and I have pills I can take!"
"If anything I did you a favour!"
"Oh go shove it!"
We all look at Courtney who is laughing her butt off after hearing their conversation.
"I'm not even going to try anymore. I'm just glad I got to hear that. Shayne is doing something that you'll find out about soon. Just be patient."
"Is it a surprise or is it like that time he got hair extensions?" Olivia asks.
"Oh no, please don't be more hair extensions." Keith says.
"It's not hair extensions. Just wait." Courtney assures us.
"Okay... Who wants to play Minecraft with me?" Noah asks and I raise my hand, "Join my world, I'll make it open in just a second." Noah opens his laptop and I get Minecraft running on my computer. We play for a little bit, I die twice by falling from a jungle tree. I was trying to make a treehouse.
Shayne appears in the doorway and we all look at him. He doesn't move or say anything for a moment, like he's deep in thought.
"Where did you go?" Noah asks what we were all thinking.
"Don't ask questions. That's my job right now." Shayne laughs. What the heck does that mean?
Shayne makes his way over to my desk and stands in front of me. I have no idea what to think, I've never seen him look this nervous. Olivia has made her way over to Courtney and they're holding the hands of each other, like they're bracing themselves for something. Keith is tapping Noah's shoulder excitedly and Noah is looking between Shayne and me with his eyes wide. Do they know something I don't? What's happening?
"Hi." Shayne says simply. I smile slightly, confused.
"Hey, Shayne..." I say back. I glance at the squad and then back at him, him looking slightly more relaxed but also still very tense.
"Doyouwannagoonadatewithme?" Shayne mumbles. He said it so quickly that I didn't quite catch it.
"What?" I laugh at how cute he is when he's nervous, but I don't know what he's nervous about. The others are still staring at us, waiting.
Shayne takes a deep breath and looks me in my eyes, "Do you want to go out with me? On a date? Actually, you know what? Screw the date. I mean, let's still go on a date, but be my girlfriend."
I stare at him for a second, processing what he just said. Did Shayne Topp just ask me to be his girlfriend? Freaking finally! I was wondering how long I'd have to flirt and randomly do couple things with him before he'd ask. I look into his blue eyes and I can see that he's barely breathing waiting for my answer.
"I would love to go on a date with you and be your girlfriend. Shayne." I hug him and I feel his strong arms embrace me. Courtney and Olivia are on the verge of tears and Keith and Noah are stunned.
"Dude! You didn't tell us about this!" Keith shouts and I can hear the excitement in his voice.
"He told me! Suck it!" Courtney shouts back. So that's why she was being all suspicious earlier. I mean, it's not that big of a deal. It's just a date. Actually no, it is a big a deal to me, I'm way more excited than I'm trying to show.
"This is so cute!" Olivia squeals.
I pull back from hugging him a little bit so I can look at Shayne's face and I can see his soft smile. Something in the moment is like a force pulling me towards him and I kiss him. He kisses me back gently, sweetly. I love the feeling of his lips brushing against mine, and his hands make their way down to my waist. It's like everyone disappeared, and it's just me and Shayne. That is until I realize the squad is basically screaming and then the screaming grows louder as three more people join. Ian, Mari, and Damien stand in the doorway, and Shayne and I pull away from our kiss to look at them. Shayne chuckles lightly and faces me again, I can see his face is quite pink.
"How about I pick you up at seven?" Shayne says.
"Sounds great. Just please don't be 'date Shayne'." I laugh,
"I'll try not to, I can't promise anything though." Shayne laughs and I just take it in, enjoying the moment.
The moment is interrupted by Mari shouting, "YES! The first romance to ever come out of Smosh!"
-
I'm rushing around my apartment getting ready for my date. As I finish curling my hair I hear Meghan buzz Shayne in. I look in the mirror and adjust my dress. I haven't been on a date in... ever. I'm so nervous and I think Meghan can see that because she stops me running around and grabs hold of my shoulders.
"You look beautiful, you're going to have a lot of fun tonight. It's just Shayne. Stop worrying so much." Meghan smiles.
"Thanks," I reply, "You're right. It's just Shayne, I know Shayne. He's my friend and my date. Wait, no. Boyfriend." I smile.
I hear a knock at the door and rush to open it. Shayne is standing there and smiles brightly when he sees me. He's wearing black pants and a formal looking short-sleeved button-up shirt, kinda as he would normally wear but leveled up to date attire.
"You look amazing. Wow. My girlfriend is beautiful." Shayne says, looking me up and down. I can feel myself blushing.
"Thanks. You don't look to bad yourself." I touch the sleeve of his shirt feeling his muscular arm.
"Ready?" Shayne asks.
"Yeah." I smile and we walk hand in hand out of my apartment complex to go on our first date, our first date ever, and our first date as a couple.
