In The Field Where I Found You

~Chapter 3~

           Kenma couldn't see; he couldn't move. He could only hear the faint and routine screech of volleyball shoes against the court. The sounds suddenly seemed to grow louder and more abundant as if more and more people were running across the glossy floor. It seemed to get louder, as if charging directly in his direction, coming to absorb him. Kenma could feel anxiety climb up his throat as he tried to scream for them to stop.
           Suddenly, all sound was extinguished. And with the loss of his hearing came the creation of his sight. A silent scream was let out as he saw his team surrounding him, their piercing eyes digging under his skin, taunting him, pressing him to stare back. Kenma looked down, avoiding all gazes. Until his eyes stopped on the pair of shoes that were always in Hinata Shouyou practice bag, waiting to be used on the court. Kenma's eyes slowly traveled up the short males body, wanting so desperately to stop and look down again. But he couldn't stop his gaze as it slowly reached the face he so desperately wanted to relinquish from his mind.
           Kenma's face writhed in surprise and fear as he watched Hinata's face turn into one of disgust and disappointment. Kenma tore his eyes from Hinatas and looked at the surrounding people's faces. They all wore indistinguishable copies of Hinata's expression. Kenma turned and turned, scanning face after face of his teammates hoping to find someone who would stop looking at him that way. But none ceased to gaze sharply at him. Instead, they started toward Kenma. The small man wanted to run away, but he couldn't. His feet were fastened to the black void beneath him. Kenma screamed for help but none came. He looked up to see Yaku and Lev stalking closer toward him.
            But, slightly above Yakus' head, in the far distance was Kuroo. He was standing there, smiling holding up a big thumbs up as if to say "You've got this!" Kenma screamed for him but as he did, Kuroo began to fade into the black vacuum surrounding them. Kenma screeched in suffocation as the team huddled around him. They all began to poke and prod at him, all mumbling things under their breaths. Kenma couldn't understand what they were saying but he could tell it was whispers of hatred and harsh judgment. He hugged his knees and cried, letting out screams of terror and panic. He was never going to get out. Soon after all remaining hope leaked out of him, Kenma was pulled up and away by a strong, unknown, force. Still screaming, Kenma closed his eyes, not wanting to whiteness what the terror surrounding him had in store for him next.
