A/N: Here's chapter 2. Enjoy people.

LILA'S POV (1st person):

Running. That small word describes my whole life. Ever since I was a toddler, I've been running. Lemme give you a quick intro to my life:

Hi. The name's Lila. I'm 14, nearly 15. Until I was 3, I was living with my foster parents- David and Elsie (which wasn't so great) - but when they left, I was put into the foster system. Since then, I have been bouncing from family to family (not all of them good), building up my walls and keeping my facade up. When I was 10, I met Solomon, Reece and Will. We became fast friends, and they're like my brothers. Although they're against it, they've gotten used to me running, and they always try to keep me safe. That was when I joined The Serpents. I quickly rose through the ranks, and now I'm the joint leader with Solomon and someone else who I've never met. Reece and Will often grumble that 'a little girl' is their boss but I know they're secretly proud of me.

Which brings me to the present:

"Bottle? Check. Money? Check. Locket? Check. Food? Check." I quickly put all the items in my bag. My foster mother, Lydia, was standing anxiously over me, clutching Anna in her arms.

"Quick, Lila!" She hissed, "they'll be here soon! You have to run!"

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am running again. Lydia's husband, Robert, was a part of a small-time gang. She'd eavesdropped on their meetings and learnt that they were planning to sell me. She put a sleeping drug in his dinner. She shouldn't have bothered; if Solomon, Reece or Will knew about the plan, they'd never let it happen. However, I know I've overstayed. I've been living here for about 8 months; which may not sound like much, but it's the longest I've stayed in one place.
Leaving the place I once called home, I grabbed Lydia's wrist, "Take Anna and run. Please. Don't stay here anymore."
Lydia tucked a piece of black hair behind my ear, "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Good luck, Lila."
And with that, I turned and walked out into the night.

Solomon POV:
I was busy organising a drug deal when I got the call. Looking at the screen, I quickly excused myself and answered it. No matter where I was or what I was doing, Lila would always come first.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"What? No hello? Why do you always assume I want something?" She replied.
"Okay, then, I guess I'll be going," I smirked.
"Shut up," Lila replied, "I'm running."
I sighed. This constant moving of Lila was unhealthy for her. She should learn to build up relationships and let down her walls, for once.
"Now before you give me a lecture," Lila interrupted, "I had a legitimate reason. The husband, Robert, was planning to sell me."
"WHAT?!" I whisper-screamed.
"Chill, I left," I heard shouting in the background, "anyway, could you send some men to check up on the wife and daughter there? I don't want them to be in danger."
"Already done," I said, sending the text.
"Great, thanks."
"Where are you going to stay?" I asked. Although she didn't know it, I'd secretly been sending my men to check up on Lila.
"Umm... I don't know?" Lila said, but it came out more like a question.
I rolled my eyes, that girl was so unorganised, "Where are you, right now?"
"Erm, I'm at the- OH SHUT UP!" She directed the last part to someone else, "sorry about that; I'm at the pub on Maine Street." She whispered the last part, probably hoping I couldn't hear.

"WHAT?!" I yelped, "Lila! What are you doing there?" I practically growled.

"I don't know!" She hissed, "I was walking, and I, somehow, ended up here!"

I pinched the bridge of my nose, this girl is going to be the death of me, "I will send someone to pick you up."

"Okay."

"I have to go, stay safe," I ended the call.

I entered the room again, "So, where were we?"

Lila's POV:

I sat on the steps of the pub, trying to ignore the drunken gaggle of people stumbling up the steps. Several times, some people would try and talk to me and I ignored them, praying that the car would come quick. Thankfully, a familiar black car rolled up and she practically sprinted to the vehicle.
"Hey Melissa," I said, putting my seatbelt on.
"Hey, doll," Mellie smiled in the mirror, "where to?"
I sighed and leaned back in the comfy leather chair, "The Orphanage."
Mellie frowned in the mirror, "you sure? You swore never to go back after-"
"Yes, I know," I cut off Mellie's explanation, trying to keep the bad memories at bay, "but I think it's time."
She shrugged, "if your sure."
Closing my eyes, I welcomed the dark abyss and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
