And I'm just an arrogant son of a bitch
Who can't admit when he's sorry

"WAIT I'M CONFUSED," Draco said with a slight laugh to his tone. "You dated Dean Thomas?"

"Well I don't know if I would call it dating," Ophelia looked over at him as they walked to the entrance of the three broomsticks "It was never official or anything," she chuckled as she saw him clenched his jaw "Don't be jealous, that was way back in fourth year anyway."

Draco scoffed as he held the door open for her "I'm not jealous, I just think you could have done better."

"Hey!" She said as they walked into the pub "He's nice."

"Yeah whatever." he sighed and turned to face her "You go find a spot, I have to go do something real quick."

Ophelia furrowed her eyebrows as she watched him quickly walk away and up the staircase. She huffed and looked around the room.

She smiled as she saw the golden trio.

"Ophelia!" Harry waved her over.

She squeezed past people as she made her way to their table. "Hi guys." she smiled at the three.

"Hey did Malfoy tell you where he was going?" Harry asked as he looked at Ophelia. "He looked like he was in a hurry."

She rolled her eyes "I talked to him, he's not a Death Eater, no need to be on his case anymore."

Granger gasped "Harry!" she scolded "I told you not to tell her."

"She had every right to know what I was thinking." he turned his attention back to Woodlock "But do you really think that if he were one, he would tell you?" Harry raised his eyebrows "I mean this is Draco Malfoy we are talking about. Him and his family have history with Voldemort, it makes sense that he would be one."

Ophelia shook his head "Harry I respect where you're coming from, but Draco isn't like his family, He's actually nice once you get to know him."

"Yeah right." Harry scoffed as he rolled his eyes. "Malfoy has never said anything nice to me in the 6 years we've known each other," He leaned back in his chair "And last time I checked he wasn't all that kind to you before 5th year."

Woodlock opened her mouth to speak, but quickly shut it as she saw Draco walking down the stairs. "I have to go, see you guys later."

She walked over to Malfoy and grabbed his hand "Let's sit over here," she motioned to an open booth.

The pair walked over and sat down. "I have that dumb dinner party tomorrow." She said, trying to start a conversion.

He hummed in response, already knowing where this is going.

"And Professor Slughorn said we can bring a plus one," she gnawed on her lip "I was maybe thinking you could come with me?"

Draco sighed "What time is it at?"

"7:00 I believe."

Malfoy frowned, he didn't want to go "Sorry love, but I don't think I can come."

Ophelia gave him a sad smile and nodded her head "That's okay," she said "I was stupid to ask, I knew you would say no." she chuckled at her foolishness. Draco looked at her for a few seconds before the waitress came over with two butterbeers "Thank you." Ophelia said to her as she walked away.

He shook his head "You're not stupid."

Ophelia laughed "Pretty sure you thought I was last year."

Draco rolled his eyes at her "Well that's because I was trying to make fun of you," he leaned his elbows on the table "I didn't actually think you were stupid, I just wanted a reason to talk to you." he said casually.

She looked down at her hands and bit the inside of her cheek "Oh." she mumbled then shook her head "How's your Mother doing?" She said trying to change the subject, she knew that Draco and his mum were close.

Though Woodlock immediately regretted asking as she watched Malfoy tense up "Fine." he said while clenching his jaw.

"Um that's good." she bit her lip as she watched him fidgeted around with his slytherin ring. "How are you doing?"

He sucked his teeth "Alright." he lied.

"Draco," she sighed out "I'm starting to get really worried about you."

He rolled his eyes "Ophelia stop it."

"Stop what?" she asked, knowing where this was going.

"Stop being so paranoid," he sighed "I told you I'm okay, so drop it."

She nodded "Sorry." her smile was sad "I'll stop." she looked away from him and frowned. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat 'He's right, I'm just paranoid.' she thought, 'But he could be less of an ass about it.'

-

"Did you hear what happened?!" Ophelia said as she ran up next to Malfoy in the hallway, which was relatively empty, besides a few randoms. She struggled to keep up with Draco's long strides.

"What?" He asked, not looking at her.

"Katie Bell got hexed, poor girl almost died." Ophelia said with a frown. She didn't personally know her, but they had talked a few times throughout the years, she seemed nice.

Draco just hummed in response.

"Where are you going?" She questioned as he began to walk up the staircase, which was leading the 7th floor.

He glanced at her "Nowhere important, in fact you should probably go back to your dorm."

"Oh," she stopped walking. She watched as he continued making his way up the stairs. She clenched her jaw and gulped "Draco wait." She called out, making him stop in his tracks.

"What?" he snapped as he looked at her. She sighed, he didn't look well, like he hadn't slept in days.

She took a step forward. She knotted her eyebrows, not sure if she should say anything.

"Well spit it out,"

She shook her head "Why do you always run off?"

"I'm not running off," he said impatiently "You came up to me while I was going somewhere, there's a difference."

"No," she took another step forward on the staircase "I'm not talking about that," she said "I'm talking about the countless of times, where we'll be hanging out and you randomly leave," she huffed "Or the fact that you rarely show up to classes anymore," She ran her hand through her hair "And you keep on lying to me,"

"Ophelia I don't have time for this," he muttered while turning around, finally reaching the corridor leading to the room of requirement, luckily the hallway -more like the floor in general- was empty, well besides Ophelia and Draco.

"No." She stated, following him "I'm done, I-I keep on forgiving you, and saying that it's okay, but it's not," he didn't turn around "Malfoy fucking look at me while I'm talking to you."

Draco leaned his head back and let out an aggressive sigh. "I don't like it when you yell at me Woodlock." he turned around and crossed his arms, though part of him knew she was right, he was being a jerk.

"Does it look like I care?" her voice sounded angry "Draco, you and I both know I have no problem with being dramatic." her face was red with embarrassment and madness "I'm tired of being the kind one," she got closer to him "I'm tired of you getting angry when I ask you simple questions." she shook her head "And what sucks about this, is that we literally had this exact conversion, weeks ago" she ran her tongue across the inside of her cheek and let out a chuckle "And nothing has changed."

He just stayed silent.

"Do you even know how this makes me feel?" she asked "And I'm smart enough to realize that your behavior has something to do with what's going on with your family, but that gives you no right to treat me like shit."

"I'm not treating you like shit Ophelia, you don't know what I'm going through right now, and if you did you would understand."

"Then fucking tell me!" she scoffed "Do you expect me to keep on being kind to you when you lie and don't tell me anything?" her heart was pounding "I understand that it's okay to keep things to yourself sometimes, hell I've been doing it for years," she bit her lip "But when it gets to the point where you're hurting others, then it might be a good idea to confess."

He shrugged "I'm not hurting anyone." He lied. "And besides you didn't tell me about the whole Dumbledore's army shit last year so stop acting like a fucking hypocrite."

Ophelia felt like she could hit him "You're joking right? T-This is completely different,"

"Oh yeah?" He scoffed "Enlightened me."

"We weren't even dating, and it's not like I was hurting you, or treating you like shit."

He bit on the inside of her cheek and looked away from her. "Can't we just talk about this later?" he was starting to feel guilty "I think you need to cool off."

"Draco you have made me cry more times in the past 4 months, then I have in my entire life." tears pricked in her eyes "I can't keep doing this if you're not gonna tell me what's wrong with you." she felt herself getting choked up, which she hated.

"I can't tell you." He said truthfully as he stepped closer to her "Shit don't cry." he said as he noticed the glass tears build up in her eyes.

She shook her head and sniffed "Why can't you tell me? Am I the problem?"

"Fuck, no," Malfoy cringed, he hated making her feel like this "You've never been the problem." he chewed his lip as he placed a hand on her shoulder, she flinched at his touch. "You would hate me if I told you, I can't have you hating me."

She shook her head "Shit," she mumbled as tears dropped from her eyes. She aggressively wiped them away "I hate crying in front of people." she pushed up her glasses "Just tell me." she sighed "I need to know."

Draco shook his head "No, I can't." he stepped away.

"You are actually acting really fucking selfish right now. Do you even hear yourself?" she swallowed back more tears, she didn't want to seem weak. "Draco I'm sorry but I'm fucking in love with you, and I know we've never said that to each other, but it's the truth and-"

"Really? You love me?" his face burned with redness as she nodded "I lov-"

"Nope." she interrupted "Not right now, I'm really pissed off." her breath was shaky "You can trust me. I've been telling you that for so long." her bottom lip queried "And I need some answers because you're making me feel like I'm the bad guy here, just because I care for you and sometimes ask you how you are, and in return you lash out or you just say fine. And you're not fucking fine!" her voice was growing louder by the sentence "I would love it if someone would ask me if I was okay once in a while, to show me they care," foggy tears rushed down her face "So I just thought that if I did it to you, you would appreciate it, but I guess I was wrong," she huffed "One minute you act like I'm your favorite person ever, then the next you act like I'm clingy and you ignore me, and you don't even say sorry! You're starting to be a real dick, you know that?"

"Stop you're acting like a bitch-"

The noise of a smacking sound echoed off the walls of the corridor.

Draco ran his tongue across the inside of his cheek as he touched the sore spot on his face where she had slapped him.

A sob came from the back of Ophelia's throat. She reached out to touch his face, but he slapped her hand away "D-Draco, I'm so sorry I-I didn't mean to,"

"I'm a fucking Death Eater." he muttered under his breath.

"W-What?" she looked at him confused.

"I'm. A. Death. Eater." Draco said through gritted teeth, though he immediately regretted saying the four words once he saw the fear and sadness rush to her ocean blue eyes.

Woodlock felt like she was going to faint. She took a step back from him "What?" she asked again "But when I asked you that a few days ago you said you weren't one-"

"I lied." he couldn't look at her in the eyes. He himself felt as if he could cry.

"No." she mumbled. She shook her head and let out a laugh "You're kidding right?"

Draco blinked hard as he felt hot tears run down his cheeks "N-No I'm not, but Ophelia I wanted to tell you," he took a step forward and reached out to touch her, but she moved away "I didn't have a choice," he choked out "I didn't want to become one, really," he gulped as he watched the fear in her eyes "But he threatened to kill my family,"

"I-I can't believe this," she muttered "I can't believe this," she repeated "My boyfriend is a Death Eater," she shook her head "No, I can't do this, your people killed my mother."

"No," he grabbed a hold of her arm "They aren't my people I swear, I didn't have choice,"

"Don't touch me." she squirmed out of his grip and began to walk away.

"Ophelia don't do this," he followed her "I-I love you, I can't lose you, you're my only hope." He wanted to cringe at how cheesy it sounded, but it was true, he felt lost without her.

"I love you Draco," she rambled while stepping away from him "I really do, but I need to think. I can't be around you right now, please leave me alone." her breathing was heavy. She didn't know how she was feeling. Honestly she probably would have reacted better if he would have just told her in the first place, but he didn't, he lied.

That's what upset Ophelia the most. The fact that when she asked him if he was one a few days ago, he lied, and she actually believed him.

She knew he could never physically hurt anyone, hell this is Draco Malfoy we are talking about. Sure he could hex or curse someone, but to take a life? He could never.

"Please just don't tell anyone." he said, knowing that she was too loyal to him. She wouldn't have told anyone even if he didn't tell her to not say anything. He just felt like he should say it.

She nodded as she bit down so hard on her lip she started to taste blood.

He couldn't even say sorry to her for lying.

Malfoy stopped walking after her and watched her walk away. As she made her way down the long staircase, Draco cursed under his breath. This is exactly why he didn't want to tell her. He choked back a sob and shook his head, he didn't have time for this.

At least she didn't know about what Voldemort was forcing him do.
