Sounds of cheers and music flew through the air all around the campsite outside of the stadium. Most of it from Ireland fans, the rest just from party-goers.
Y/N looked around at the blazing fires, the celebratory banners, the narrow pathways filled with people celebrating a Quidditch World Cup win. She couldn't help but smile, everyone looked happy; no worries in the world, almost as if everyone was free.
"What's got you smiling so much?"
Y/N turned to see Brianne who was watching her with an amused smile.
"Look at how happy everyone looks, like there's nothing wrong in the world. I wish it was like this all the time, it's so calming, so reassuring."
Brianne's face softened at her best friend's words. She knew how tired she was of always having bad years at Hogwarts, and how much stress it always put on her. Brianne just wanted her friend to live the relaxing life she could, but with being a prophecy she knew that wouldn't exactly be the case.
"Hey," she said, gently grabbing Y/N's hand with her in a comforting manner, "you never know. Maybe things will look up this year."
Y/N looked at her best friend with a small smile, "Yeah, mayb-"
A loud scream cut her off, the two girls turning around to see the cause of the sound. Y/N squinted her eyes, trying to see what was happening through the haze of smoke that lingered in the air from the fires. Her eyes searched and searched.
"What? What is it?"
"I don't know," she replied. Her eyes looked over once more before they fell onto a group of people carrying torches with dark masks over them. Her eyes widened as she tightened her grip on Brianne's hand.
"We need to go, now. Where are the others?"
"Over there by the tent, why," Brianne asked, shooting her a confused look. Y/N quickly turned towards the tent where her friends and Mr. Weasley were, Brianne trailing behind her as Y/N dragged the girl along with her.
"This isn't good," she said as she approached Mr. Weasley, who was already looking at her with a concerned expression.
"Mr. Weasley, we have to go now there-"
"I know," he said, Bill, Charlie, and Percy all standing besides him with their wands out.
"Y/N take you and the rest of children to the forest and hide, they're here for one of two things; You and Harry, or to kill muggles."
"What's going on," Harry asked from beside Sofia, the group of friends now scared. Y/N turned to him.
"They're Death Eaters, but these are specific ones. They torment and kill any muggle blood they can find, then flee the scene. Hermione," Y/N said, quickly turning to the bushy-haired girl next to her as she grabbed her hand tightly. Hermione had a scared look in her eyes, Y/N's heart breaking at the sight as she gently squeezed her hand.
"Hermione, we need to go. If we don't they'll try to kill you, let's all go to the forest, and let's make it quick."
Brianne let go of Y/N's hand as she went over to Sofia, Cedric, and Harry as Ginny, Fred, George, and Ron followed behind them, all of them quickly running towards the forest next to the campsite. Y/N turned to go with them, but when she moved Hermione wouldn't budge from her spot, ultimately resulting in stopping the girl since they were holding hands. Y/N looked back towards the girl and sent her a confused glance.
"Hermione, c'mon. I'm serious, let's go!"
"No, we can't just leave Mr. Weasley and the boys to fight for themselves!"
"Mione, there's other wizards here, and you're a Muggle! They'll go after you, and I'm not losing you, not like this!"
Hermione's face softened at the girl in front of her as she quickly nodded.
"Alright, fine. We have to come back for them though."
"Of course," Y/N said immediately as she started to tug Hermione towards the forest. The two girls ran hand-in-hand to the closest group of trees. They quickly made their way through the stumps and branches before Y/N felt Hermione slow down from behind her, a groan leaving her lips.
"Hermione," she said, quickly turning around to see a gash of blood leaking from the girls ankle as tears started to fill her eyes, "shit, what happened?"
"I guess a branch caught my leg," the girl said, another groan leaving her lips, "Go on without me, your safety is more important, I'll be fine."
Y/N scoffed as she watched Hermione limp, "Like hell I will, I'm not leaving you. Hold on, relax your body real quickly."
Hermione looked at her confused before she felt Y/N wrap her arm around her waist as the other hooked underneath her legs, picking her up bridal style. A gasp left Hermione's mouth at how quickly her feet had left the ground as Y/N quickly started to run deeper into the forest with Hermione clinging to her, her arms tightly wrapped around her neck.
Y/N kept going deeper into the forest until she thought they were safe, but she made no move to put Hermione down.
"Where do you think everyone went?"
Hermione looked around at their surroundings, no one in sight. The two girls continued to scan around the forest until the sound of a twig broke behind them, Y/N quickly turning around with Hermione in her arms, a scowl taking over her face at the sight of the person in front of her.
"As if this couldn't get any better."
"(Y/L/N)," Draco said, sending the girl a smug smirk before his eyes trailed to Hermione in her arms. His smirk only widened as he saw the gash on her ankle.
"You might want to be careful there, Granger. They're after people like you," he sneered, a laugh leaving his lips as the two girls glared at him.
"Y/N," he said with a smirk, the Ravenclaw's glare at the boy not faltering a bit, "make sure you keep her safe. Wouldn't want the mudblood to get hurt even more, now would we?"
"Piss off Malfoy, if my hands weren't full you'd be on the ground begging for mercy like the pathetic little twat you are," Y/N spat at the boy, Draco only chuckling at the insult. He slowly started to back away from the two girls, turning around as he slowly made his way deeper into the forest.
"I look forward to seeing you later (Y/L/N), as for you Granger, I can't say the same."
With those words, Draco once more disappeared into the crowd of green and brown trees, Y/N going to follow the boy before she felt Hermione's hand on her face, gently tilting it down to look at her.
Y/N's face softened slightly as she looked down at the girl in her arms, Hermione giving her a pleading look.
"Don't go after him, it's not worth it," she said softly. Y/N let out a sigh before her eyes flickered back to where Draco had disappeared before she looked back at Hermione.
"Okay, fine. There's no promises for next time though," she said with a huff, Hermione giggling.
"How much farther do you suppose we go?"
Y/N looked around the forest for any sign of her friends, any sign of anyone really.
"I don't know," she said, "until we can find someone."
Hermione nodded as her eyes caught sight of two familiar redheads to their left, maybe just a couple hundred yards out. Her hand raised up to Y/N's face to push her head in the direction that she was looking in.
"Ow," Y/N whined, Hermione's hand quickly connecting with her face as it turned, "what was tha-"
She had spotted what Hermione was looking at as a smile broke onto her face, quickly running over to the two red haired twins with Hermione in her arms.
"Fred, George!"
The two twins quickly whipped their heads around as a smile appeared on both of their faces as Y/N spotted three other faces next to them.
"Y/N," they all said simultaneously, the girl immediately recognizing it as the voice of Ginny, Sofia, and Brianne. She quickened her pace as she felt Hermione's grip tighten around her neck.
The group of five friends rushed over to her as they started throwing her questions.
"What happened?"
"Where were you?"
"Are you okay?"
Y/N didn't answer as she made her way over to a tree, gently placing Hermione down so she'd be sitting against it. Y/N looked down at her ankle, blood still seeping through the large gash. Her face slightly cringed as she looked up to Hermione, pain present on her face as her eyes and nose scrunched up and her eyebrows furrowed together.
"Let's get this cleaned up," Y/N said, everyone watching as she took out her wand. Hermione shot her a confused look as Y/N held her hand out towards her.
"Here, hold my hand. I don't know if this will hurt or not."
Hermione's face displayed confusion as she slowly reached out, her hand gently grabbing Y/N's as the girl crouched in front of her ankle.
"Okay, sit still. This should only take a few seconds."
Hermione nodded without muttering a word as everyone watched Y/N point her wand towards the gash on Hermione's ankle before she slowly casted a spell.
"Vulnera Sanantur."
A light green wisp of light sparked from the tip of her hand as it started to wrap itself around Hermione's ankle, the girl slightly cringing at the feeling. She tightened her grip on Y/N's hand at the feeling of the slight pinch on her ankle before the green wisp slowly started to fade away, Hermione's ankle looking as good as new.
"Where did you learn to do that?"
"Dumbledore, he taught me last year after the whole Sirius thing on the last day of school," Y/N said, putting her wand back into her pocket.
"The Ministry is going to be after you for using your wand outside of school grounds," Fred said, but Y/N only shook it off as she waved the boy off dismissively.
"They'll understand why I did it, I'll just have Dumbledore vouch for me. I'll tell him about it later if they call me in for it."
The group fell silent as Y/N helped Hermione up and off of the dirty ground, the two girls holding each other's hands as she helped Hermione stand.
"How does it feel?"
"Brand new," Hermione said as her foot planted itself on the ground, sending Y/N an appreciative smile, "Thank you."
"It's no pro-"
Y/N didn't get to finish as her face quickly started to heat up, Hermione's lips on her cheek. A dark red blush covered her face as Hermione's lips lingered on her skin, the feeling of her warm, soft lips being engraved into Y/N's mind. Hermione continued to linger her lips there for a few more seconds before she pulled away, a light pink blush falling to her cheeks now.
"Uhm..."
Hermione giggled at Y/N's dumbfounded face as the group laughed at the girl's frozen expression. Hermione slowly raised her hand to cup Y/N's cheek, her mouth still agape as Hermione softly patted the girl's face.
"Close your mouth, love."
Y/N's mouth immediately closed as Hermione giggled once more as she took her hand away from her face. The two girls looked at each other; Hermione with a smile as Y/N's face was still flushed with a small smile. They continued to look at each other until Brianne called Y/N's name, breaking the girl's staring contest in the process.
She turned around to Brianne, "What?"
Brianne's eyes darted around their surroundings, "Do you hear that?"
Sofia nodded from next to her as she looked in the direction the noise was coming from as she pointed in the direction.
"Over there, like a voice."
Before the group of friends had time to look, a voice sounded from around them. Y/N immediately taking her wand out and pointing it in any and every direction as she protectively stepped in front of Hermione.
"Morsmordre!"
A bright green bolt came from a few hundred yards away Y/N as it shot into the sky. They all watched as the bolt shot to the night sky, a green skull and snake appearing. Y/N's eyes widened as she felt Hermione grip her hand tightly, a gasp leaving her mouth in the process.
Y/N recognized the symbol, but she couldn't remember what it stood for, realization coming to her.
"We need to find Harry, and fast. They're here."
