The world had gone quiet when Seonghwa woke from his slumber. Prying himself off the uncomfortable hospital bed, many questions were raging through his mind as he tried to put things into place; what happened? Why was he all alone? And most importantly: what was he going to do about the strange bite mark? Friends to lovers but it's a bit messier than you think it is.

Years later, Mingi crashes back into Yunho's life with a confession about one of his songs, unraveling old memories and unresolved feelings. Wooyoung leaned forward, resting his chin on his hands, flashing his most charming smile. "Feels like the kind of place people come for... special occasions." San blinked, then gave him an amused look. "Are you trying to tell me something?" Wooyoung resisted the urge to scream in frustration. Yes, San. I am trying to tell you something. I have been for weeks. Marry me, you idiot. Or: the five times Wooyoung tried to get San to propose. And the one time San did.

Sometimes Mingi would just listen to a three-minute audio of Yunho ranting about a math problem and wonder how on earth does someone passive, pessimistic and antisocial like him would end up friends with someone so energetic. It wasn't like Mingi didn't have other friends. He did. Kind of. But no one else made him feel like that. (No one else made him feel butterflies in his stomach either, but he googled the symptoms and self-determined it's most likely gastritis or palpitations, not a crush.)

Once, there had been laughter. Warmth. Togetherness. Friends. The time at the orphanage had been taxing, and tears rolled in many nights when yet another family left without bringing Seonghwa along. But he made the best of it. Laughed with the other kids and the helpers around the house. He knew he owed them every happy moment of his youth. Until he had to leave. It's cold now. Everything is cold now. Seonghwa is a nobody. A lone soul forgotten on dingy streets, with only the frigid concrete to curl up against. He is lost. But then a helping hand stretches out from the darkness to give him new life.

"You're drunk again," Wooyoung's voice was thick, trembling. Hongjoong didn't need to look to know that his eyes were red, tears pooling at the edges. "You said you'd be home earlier. I waited-again. Until seven in the fucking morning." Hongjoong sighed, long and heavy, as he tossed his keys onto the cluttered kitchen counter. He didn't even bother to respond. He didn't have the energy for this, not tonight. Or maybe it was every night.
