Joey is a 17 year old boy from Massachusetts. His parents are alcoholics and don't except that he's gay. They are constantly mentally and physically abusing poor Joey. If you ask how Joey puts up with this, he cuts. It's not healthy, but it helps him for the time being. He moves and is forced to move to a new school. Right when he is about to give up all hope in life. He meets Daniel preda. Daniels back story is very different. You see he has 2 very loving excepting parents, a nice house, and a nice life in general. He is called by the teacher to show a new student around. When he gets to the office and meets the beautiful boy, he can tell there's something wrong. Joey Graceffa has never really been in love. Honestly, he doesn't think love really exists. It isn't like he is closed minded when it comes to the emotions. He just has never been placed in a position to believe it is real. What will happen when a substitute teacher comes into play?

Joey & Spencer, friends that met online through social media, made the big cross-country move to Los Angeles in order to look for a home. Their lives couldn't be more normal, aside from Spencer being the only person to know about Joey being gay. One day, when an unfamiliar face shows up behind the cash register at the ice cream shop in the mall, Joey begins to find it harder & harder to keep his sexuality a secret from the world. Eventually he becomes more than just a face, and as Daniel gets to know Joey, the two bond and become one of the realest relationships Joey's ever experienced. Unfortunately, he soon discovers that it's going to be extremely difficult dating Daniel while trying to keep his sexuality a secret until the time is right. As the summer of freedom comes to a close and senior year of school begins, Joey realizes that life is about to become way more complicated than he ever thought possible.
