SYNCHRONET MARINE AND PROFIT TOOLS ANNOUNCE SOLUTION TO EASE PORT CONGESTION
Integration between offerings will enhance reload matching service and reduce empty mileage and wait times for truckers
SynchroNet Marine, Inc. and Profit Tools, Inc. have formed a co-operative alliance to provide seamless data integration
between the Profit Tools for Trucking container dispatch system and the SynchroMet virtual container yard (VCY) reload matching service.
The SynchroMet service helps trucking operations with available empty containers find matches with other trucking operations that need that
type of equipment, enabling both to avoid an unnecessary trip to the port by “street turning” the equipment.

Profit Tools for Trucking container dispatch system and the SynchroMet virtual container yard (VCY) reload matching service.
The SynchroMet service helps trucking operations with available empty containers find matches with other trucking operations that need that
type of equipment, enabling both to avoid an unnecessary trip to the port by “street turning” the equipment.
The integration, which will be available in October 2004, will enable trucking companies using Profit Tools to automatically post available
and needed empty containers into the SynchroMet matching service without redundant effort or data entry. The SynchroMet service will then
proactively notify the trucking company’s dispatcher of any matches. By making posting to SynchroMet a routine, seamless part of the
dispatch process, the alliance will enable trucking companies to reduce operating costs, while at the same time reducing port congestion.
“We are excited that this integration will lead to an increased volume of postings, and therefore an even more effective service for all
participants,” said Wilford W. Middleton, CEO of SynchroNet Marine. “The SynchroMet service (www.SynchroMet.com) has already been embraced
by trucking operations, steamship lines, and ports as a means of reducing costs and port congestion. By partnering with a best-of-breed
dispatch software provider such as Profit Tools, we can accelerate the growth of posting volume and take a significant step towards our goal
of reloading becoming the norm in container operations.” Enabling trucking companies to post all but the exceptions automatically, the
Profit Tools – SynchroMet integration will lead to a higher percentage of postings and equipment matches from participating trucking operators.
“The problem of port congestion is significant in terms of cost, efficiency, and environmental impact,” said Brian K. Widell, president of
Profit Tools, Inc. “A more efficient reload matching process is a goal on which trucking companies, owner operators, steamship lines, the ports,
and civic & environmental groups can all agree. The SynchroMet service is an outgrowth of that consensus among stakeholders. Our customers
have brought this problem to the forefront of our attention, and we are excited to be able to collaborate with SynchroMet on advancing the solution.”
SynchroMet was originally developed and launched to ease port Congestion in Oakland. Endorsed by the Northern California Intermodal Motor Carrier
Conference, SynchroMet reduces empty truck miles and positively reduces diesel emissions affecting the local environment.
As a user of both Profit Tools and SynchroMet, Mark Aboudi of AA Trucking in Oakland was involved in spurring the collaboration between the
two companies. “Both of these products independently have improved the efficiency of my operations,” Aboudi said. “I expect that by bringing
them together, I can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per week in uncompensated waiting time and unnecessary per-diem fees.
That’s a significant impact for my fleet, and a competitive advantage for me in terms of driver retention.”
