Maybe it could be one of the members of Rick's group, and as they waited for the corpse to reanimate, they would become confused. Eventually, when days go by, then weeks, then a month, they realize they might have something valuable here, some sort of immunity factor. Perhaps the show has already done this (I haven't watched the show in a long time). Maybe this idea is out there somewhere already. But I just wanted to create this little story (about 1500 words) to get the idea written down. If it has been done already, please let me know. Otherwise, maybe send a Twitter message to the team to suggest this? I think it would be fun to watch. Also, I note here that this is not fan fiction and is not meant to be in the show's universe; it's just a short tale of mine I wrote somewhat quickly. And if there actually are Disciples and Survivors and whatever other terms I used on the show or in the comic books (which I have never read), I have used these terms coincidentally. Also, please note that the second part is an alternate ending that came to mind after finishing the tale. Consider it a little deleted extra. This is a short science-fiction story (1150 words). I wrote it a couple years ago. But... Recently, I said to myself, as an exercise, try to come up with a concept similar to "A Quiet Place." I never saw that film, but know the gist of it, and the basic plot. I thought it was a really good idea. I then remembered this tale that I wrote. In a sense, it is similar. So, I thought I'd publish it on 抖阴社区 to see what others might think about it. I've titled it "The Number," but it was originally called "The Silence of Darwin." I like the latter better, but I'm not sure that moniker is as simple/marketable as the former. If you have an opinion, please let me know. I intend to rewrite this and place it in a more modern, apocalyptic, "A Quiet Place"-type setting. Not sure if I will use monsters/creatures, though; might instead use AI drones as the mysterious antagonists. Then again, that will take away my weird-evolution angle. I guess I'll have to decide... One thing I came up with that I really liked was the idea of future paratroopers that are beamed down to a planetary surface "Star Trek"-style by a low-flying ship; has that ever been done before? There are isolated individuals here and there, including a couple of high-school kids in Marblehead. The web hasn't been updated in forever; old blog posts and articles sit there with the last date being the beginning of the event that changed life as it was previously known. Yet, those Marblehead kids can still order some stuff from Amazon and have it delivered to them via drone on the Neck. Why is this?.... Author's note: This is essentially a short story, not much more than a couple thousand words I think, but I divided it up into eight chapters because I believe this would make an interesting streaming series. Or, it might make a compelling collection of short films. The eight chapters are meant to simulate an eight-episode series. Think of them as little treatments for full teleplays. I try not to give much away, and to make it as mysterious and open to interpretation as possible. Anyway, hope you enjoy the concept I've presented. Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks for checking my work out. I should mention, before I go, that I'm not sure if I like the title or not. It obviously is a pun on "all alone," but, it just doesn't grab me.
