Aurora and her team find themselves in a peculiar situation. For months, the vigilantes had been struggling to fight against an uncharacteristically coordinated group of criminals. The mysterious organization targeted numerous villages at the same time, forcing the heroes to stop only a few of the many attacks. Unwilling to let the fight draw on for any longer, Aurora and her friends decide to take a different approach: to hunt down the gang's elusive leader and expose his identity, destroying his gang from the inside. To do so, the vigilantes must attend an event hosted by their foes themselves: a masquerade. Yet tracking down a crime boss is easier said than done. As Aurora and her friends navigate through the party, hidden within crowds of innocent and guilty, they soon learn that gloating isn't the event's only purpose. At the Midnight Masquerade, everyone's hiding their true intentions; and, unbeknownst to the vigilantes, they aren't the only ones hunting for culprits that night. ︶︶︶︶ *note: this short story takes place roughly a year before the events of Ninjago: Amplified (Book 1). ︶︶︶︶ !! Lloyd's newfound happiness is short-lived when a misunderstanding turns the other ninja against him. Alone and vulnerable, he is taken hostage by Sleete and kept in the Dark Lord's clutches for weeks with no hope of rescue. While the ninja struggle to deal with the suspected betrayal, the war for the six Elemental Crystals grows more intense as the Sons of Darkness push harder to achieve their goal. With Clouse's experiment complete, the gang gains a new kind of strength, and the ninja struggle to keep up with their power. During the chaos, Kai's life is fading, and Lloyd spirals further into madness. Hope for victory is fleeting as mission after mission proves unsuccessful. The ninja reach out for new allies, but the Sons of Darkness do the same, and the heroes must sort out the deception Sleete planted in their team before he and his gang wreak terror on all of Ninjago. Between Ronin's dangerous tasks and Chelsea's wild lifestyle, Lloyd is pushed to his limits, and his sickness is this close to putting him on his deathbed. Yet the team has no time to rest, for twists in their mission still follow everywhere they go. Lloyd isn't the only one who must risk himself for the good of Ninjago, and both those considered good and those seen as bad must decide the purpose behind their fight. Through sacrifice of the noble and dishonorable, grief of souls already on the verge of breaking, and perseverance of only those sure of their place, true intentions will be revealed, relationships will be broken or mended, and both sides of the War will struggle for first place. A turn in fate--or prophecy--leads the second Elemental Alliance and the Sons of Darkness to one final stand, where the ninja will learn just who is a friend, and who is merely an ally... and what it truly means to be a hero. At first, Nya was her only friend. Until Lloyd opened the tomb of the Hypnobrai tribe. She met Nya's brother, who just so happened to be one of the Ninja, master of fire. Along with Nya's brother, she also met the masters of earth, ice, and lightning. The Smith siblings, Kai and Nya, together with their little foster brother, Lloyd, try to survive their difficult life with their abusive foster parent. They live far from everything, have little to no personal possessions, and lead difficult lives as their guardian's source of income. All they have is each other. One day, just as things start to become unbearable in the siblings' lives, an old sensei comes to meet the three siblings and makes them an all too intriguing offer. He gives them the chance to a new life. How will the siblings cope with the drastic transition from being neglected in an abusive household to living in a peaceful monastery amongst kind and caring people? How will their broken mindsets and crippling fears affect them and their parts in a prophecy? How will two boys both dressed in green find peace after a war lights up between them? ------------- This story is only meant to be a bit of fun for me and my readers, so it won't be as well-written as my other books.
