It is 1914, and Henry Anderson is watching the world descend into war. Like many young men at the time, he is fascinated by the idea of warfare and glory. Henry enlists in the military against his parents' wishes and throws himself into the life of a British soldier in Flanders. But it is far from what he expects: Henry's fantasies of righteous battle fade into the grim reality of gruesome death and shell-shock. He and his fellow soldier Jacob must help each other survive the cruel trenches, but it is no longer certain that either of them will return to England alive. Told in journal entries and letters from Henry's sister Elizabeth, this reveals the realities and horrors of World War I, on the battlefield and in the homefront. I wrote this for a history project while studying WWI and got way too involved in it, so here you are. WARNINGS: gun/bomb/gas-related violence, war descriptions, graphic death, suicide attempt. I will mark specific chapters with warnings and give summaries of those chapters on the following one. Hey guys, I wrote this book when I was like 15 with no writing experience. Please note that the grammar is bad but the story however, will keep you entertained!

I have no real experience in the military. Just putting that out there. I'm 8th grade. This story contains quite the blood scenes but I've died them down. In the works. No cursing. A/N: This will be my longest piece yet, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy this. I have been working on this one-shot for months on end. I will accept any pieces of constructive criticism, as for how long this bastard is, I most likely missed over a lot of points. I will also accept three page essays in the comments over literally anything.

It's a little story "about a young, dumb sankta who's been dealt a bad hand at life, looking for his place in all this mess. The pointless search for a better future leads him far, far away from home, to a country forever ravaged by war and misery - Kazdel, the promised land where devils roam free and peace feels out of place."
