Rey, an abandoned nobody, fought side by side with the powerful Kylo Ren. She saw a future in him, a redemption of Ben Solo. She believed it, and a part of her still does Kylo Ren, Ben Solo, the son of a Skywalker and the grandson of Darth Vader, turned to the dark side by the never calm conflict within him. He killed his own Supreme Leader for the scavenger girl, but now it seems the girl has no more faith in Ben Solo and he is lost. After the Battle of Crait, Rey shut the door on the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. Only days before, she was sure that she could bring back Ben Solo, but now, shes not so sure anymore. She's lost faith in him, she believes her vision was only a vision. But she just can't seem to forget the look in his eyes when he fought by her, when he killed his Supreme Leader, when he understood her after the dark cave consumed her. She can't seem to forget him. Then there's Resistance pilot Poe Dameron. Rey hardly knows him and yet now she's strongly captivated by him, drawn to him by an aura that feels so positive and so warm and welcome. But he has a hatred for Ben Solo that is unexplained, and Rey fears that her friendship with Poe will prevent her from bringing Ben home. Who will Rey choose?

Immediately following the events of The Last Jedi, the battle for the galaxy continues between the First Order and the last of the Resistance. As the new Supreme Leader takes the throne, the First Order is focused on finding and destroying all who oppose them. The Resistance had disappeared into hiding and desperation has forced them to explore the gray areas of war. Meanwhile, on opposite sides of the war, Rey and Kylo Ren are forced to face the realities of their bond, their complicated relationship, their loyalty to their causes, and their understanding of the Force. Could their star-crossed connection be tied to the fate of the galaxy? This is a slow burn! Enemies to friends to lovers. This story continues the arcs and themes beautifully woven through The Last Jedi, as well as the narrative from the previous two trilogies. All plot elements are intended to be canon-compliant through TLJ. This is 100% complete. It was completed in December 2019 on A03 before The Rise of Skywalker was released, so this is not a "fix-it" fic as much as an alternative to Episode IX. This is a dark story. My earliest memory is pain. Pain of losing a mother, pain of losing the love of a father, pain from the isolation that happened after the incident. I am reminded by others that what happened on that day was an accident and it wasn't my fault, but deep down I know what truly happened and so does my father and brothers. The deep self-anger and self-hate I have was slowly consuming me until I was taken away by General Organa and the Resistance. My life was beginning to look brighter, until the day I was kidnapped by the First Order. This is where my story neither begins nor ends. This is when my story becomes dark, so dark that even a Sith Lord would tremble in fear. I don't own the Star Wars universe (duh) but I do own the main character and those that are not from SW. There will be spoilers, but the storyline might diverge a bit from the original plot from the films.
