For years, G. Callen tried to convince his partner, Sam Hanna, that he was really an illusionist.   But what Sam and the rest of the team were unaware of, was the truth of who he really was.  All of his life he'd learned from his parents to become a new alias when the need arose.  Devastated from his mother's murder on a beach in Constanta, he finds himself alone in an orphanage with another alias, G. Callen.  No name, just a letter.  The illusion continued, he played the part well, but his father's past was catching up, enemies of his parents brought the horrid memories of his mother's murder back to the forefront of his mind.  The need for him to keep the illusion up continues to keep him from letting his team in.  But as threats on his father grows, he's left with no choice but to let the team in to help him protect what's most precious to him, his family.

Caleb is definitely a troubled child. Alone, with nothing going for him, he attempts to take his own life but fails at his first attempt. He desperately wants to try again but is put under constant supervision, especially by his new doctor, Dr Palmer. Dr Palmer becomes more and more involved in Caleb鈥檚 life, trying to help him see that his life is worth living through various methods. Eventually, the two build up a trusting and understanding relationship and Dr Palmer allows Caleb to do things that his parents would have never have let him do so soon after something so tragic. Caleb gets his life back on track, enrolling at college and even meeting a girl whom he used to know as a child. The two of them begin to date each other, and everything seems great for a while. That is, until Caleb remembers the reason that he tried to commit suicide in the first place, revealing a secret that shatters his new found confidence. As things at home begin to deteriorate too, Caleb鈥檚 situation goes from bad to worse. The only person who knows the truth, Dr Palmer, leaves him to stand on his own two feet, declaring him cured. He starts back at college full time, and becomes ever closer with Stephanie, the only person whom he feels that he can trust. When his own father attacks his mother, Caleb begins to think that the police are on to him, trying to unravel his past, thinking that they have realised what happened to cause him to try to commit suicide. However, they are just trying to build a case against his father. In desperation, Caleb tried to reach out to Dr Palmer, against the advice of his mother. As his life spirals out of control, Dr Palmer makes him realise that the only way he can carry on is to come clean and reveal his secret. In a shocking final twist, everything is revealed to be not what it seems, and Caleb finds out that he will be ok, no matter what happens to him.
