For humans, mermaids are bad luck so she knows that they won't attempt to harm her. The first time Prince Philip steps foot on a fishing boat he witnesses the crew catch a mermaid. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. They pretty much live their lives in the water and they can do things with water like their father but he doesn't know it and the only reason they have the problems they do is because of their powers those problems go away when they're in the half blood world with other demi-G-Ds like them in that world she's a mermaid, legs on land and tail in the water, and the not talking so much she has a beautiful voice, but its part of her powers her singing is like a siren song.
