When the Goddess of Spring had successfully escaped the Underworld, The King of the Dead was determined on finding her. In order for her to start a new life, Persephone changed her looks and created a mortal name; Jade Collins. Expecting she'd be far away from the King of the Underworld, she then met a gentleman with a miserable past of his fiancéé leaving him. His name you ask, Nicholas Barnes; Hades' mortal name. And so when fate gets twisted and undeniably confusing, the Goddess of Spring and the King of the Underworld were clueless about each other's real personality. Nevertheless, they fell in love with each other as a mortal. Will Hades know that the lady whom he'd been attached to, is the same lady as his queen whom he was finding? And Will Persephone know that the man whom she'd fallen inlove with, is the same man as his husband whom she loathed so much? Greek mythology. A retelling of the goddess Persephone's story. Persephone is a young, beautiful but insecure goddess. Her father Zeus arranged her marriage to Hades, the god of the Underworld, but she refused to marry such an evil god. After being kidnapped, she finds that her father arranged that, too. Stuck in the Underworld, betrayed and lonely in a miserable marriage, she vows to get away...until she starts to realize her husband isn't so bad, after all. When escape is offered she accepts it, but realizes she is stuck forever in the Underworld...and isn't as upset as she should be. Her family is, however, and it seems like Persephone will never get a break.

Until one day in History class when her teacher spends a day on Greek mythology and something strange starts happening - her friends and classmates begin to tell myths about certain Greek deities with frightening precision. And for some reason, she's began to feel a certain affinity for Persephone, the Greek maiden who was kidnapped by Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, and forced into a marriage with him. This isn't some coincidence or freak dream, she later finds out from a host of strange individuals who claim they're from Olympus, the grandoise home of the gods themselves. She is actually a modern reincarnation of the goddess Persephone, and she's not the only one. A few of her classmates also happen to represent the gods and goddesses from popular Greek myths, and the fact that all of them are present means that something monumental is about to happen. Something like being the girl to change Persephone's future, to break the cycle of kidnapper and victim - all by passing a trial. It won't be simple, she knows, and she's not quite that eager to take it up, but from the moment she found out that she was Persephone, there was no way to back out. She should've known, however, that dealing with all powerful, immortal deities wasn't going to be easy. They've got a few secrets and personality flaws up their sleeves, and they could be deadly. More than deadly - murderous.

When I was young, I was always told that everyone loved a tragic Greek love story. Orpheus and Eurydice. Apollo and Hyacinth. Hero and Leander. Achilles and Patroclus. I had asked my mother why so many of those stories didn't have happy endings. She just gave me a grim smile and told me how the world of the gods was tricky. There was a lot about it that I didn't understand yet. That was 13 years ago. I think I understand it now.

Persephone has already been kidnapped by Hades, her unwanted and unexpected suitor. Demeter has already cast a famine on all the humans in her grief. Hades struggles to win Persephone over...but perhaps Persephone has always been meant to be with him, and she wasn't an innocent as she was thought she was... We all know the story of how Hades's kidnapped Persephone from her mother and his sister Demeter, brought her to the Underworld and tricked her by eating a Pomegranate that forces her to spend half the year in the Underworld with him. While Persephone may have been reluctant to be with the King of The Underworld at first, she slowly grew to love it and her husband. Hades being the most hated God received a curse from Persephone father, Zeus, that any child Hades and Persephone had together would destroy the world as we know it. Neglecting to tell his young wife this Persephone becomes pregnant. Excited to tell her husband about the news when she gets back to the underworld, her mother let's her know of the curse that Zeus has put on the child. Demeter urges her to be rid of the child, but Persephone, Goddess of Fertility denies the request and hides her pregnancy from all. Once Persephone has the child Zeus and Hades find out, so she asks Athena and Aphrodite for protection of the beautiful little girl. They counteract the little girls curse by providing the girl with a future love so strong, it will kill the darkness inside of her. This is the story of that girl, Helena, Daughter Of Hades.

"I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld."
