A Beauty and the Beast retelling: Once Upon a Time... there was a cursed forest where animals who could live forever existed. The animals lived in harmony with one another and away from the prying eyes of humans. However, this immortality had an unimaginable price: if the animals were ever to be killed and die, they would turn into the worst possible thing imaginable... a human. As far as they know, no animal has been killed, until now. "The beautiful red bird soared through the ocean blue sky and perched on the top tree branch. There it sang the most beautiful tune. As he starred at the bird, he noticed how the feathers shined in the sunlight. The bird had a bright red body but the top of it's head was dark black. As he put his gun down he heard a shot and quickly looked up. The bird fell from the tree. It had been killed."

Once upon a time a baby was born. However, she was much feared by her elders, so they locked her away when she was only a babe. Years passed, and her guards became fond of her, as she was a kind soul. The people who locked her away forgot about her. Then she turned sixteen. Her name was Raven. Deathly silence echoes through France as a storm settles across the land. Dark monstrous roars of thunder and ravenous lightning forks across the obsidian sky. A castle looms in the twisted woods, guarded by bloodthirsty wolves. The castle shudders in the night. Strange people turn to household objects. Frozen forever. A beast prowls the west tower alone and confused around a glass vase holding a rose, its pedals dead around the delicate stem. Eternal winter freezes it's walls. The castle falls into darkness, never to see a humans love again. DISCLAIMER: i do not own beauty and the beast. Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind...For who could ever learn to love a beast?

This is a story as old as time. We think we know the story but do we really?

Once upon a time in the hidden heart of France, a handsome young prince lived in a beautiful castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was selfish, spoiled, and unkind. He had an entire army of servants there to attend to his every need, most of which were there since his childhood. The prince nearly hated his staff, even when they'd done nothing wrong - and were only trying to meet his needs. One night, during one of the Prince's courting events - a special type of ball, where dozens of young woman would dress up and dance with the prince, in an attempt to win over his heart and become queen to the Kingdom - An uninvited guest arrived. It was a poor, shivering, elderly woman seeking shelter from the bitter winter storm. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince dismissed the woman. As a gift, the old woman offered the prince a single rose, but when he dismissed her again, the woman's outer appearance melted away. Only to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince begged for forgiveness, but it was too late - for she could see there was no love in his heart. The enchantress cursed the prince, transforming him into a hideous beast - and if he was unable to learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal from the rose she offered had fallen, he would remain a beast forever. But the enchantress also placed the curse upon his innocent castle staff, who were transformed into antiques; suffering for the prince's mistake(s) in small, rusting, metallic bodies. Life was hard enough for the staff, but now - it was unbearable. ~ This story will go through the staff's struggles before, DURING, and after they were cursed. It will also fill plot holes and extend the ending of Beauty And The Beast. A majority of this story is a prequel, and will fall into a bit of a sequel as well, so I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
