The story of two dancers in love overcoming the odds stacked against them. Sage and Cairo have been best friends ever since they met in the Catholic Church that housed the orphanage they grew up in. They were the only two black girls and bonded immediately and were inseparable. Over the years the girls had become the best dancers in their ballet class and their friendship eventually grew into young love. This story details their romance and friendship that ebbs and flows over many years. Read about how they navigate their own individual plights along with shared experiences like being queer in the 90s and escaping poverty and loneliness at all costs. ***Be warned this book discusses many topics like abuse, sexuality, drugs, homelessness, &police brutality. Like many of my books some characters are from my favorite tv shows and I love a good crossover episode. I do not own the names of any Law & Order: Svu or Pose character mentioned in this story. Everyone else are characters made up by me and me alone.

This story picks up in the summer of 1984 after the death of Stef Foster's older brother, Frank, Jr. Callie, having experienced her mother's panic attacks from an early age, asked Lena to stay because she thinks her mom is having a breakdown from the sadness of everything that's happened over the past year. Lena has a choice to make: leave everything behind and start a new life with her girlfriend in NYC or let Stef go once and for all. Will these two families finally come together and grow strong? Or are they destined to remain friends living on opposite sides of the country?
