"Coming back is like swimming up to the surface. If you almost drowned already, it takes a while to feel safe taking a breath."
The Shadowsinger gets distracted on a raid by a gentle natured female that appears out of place in the camp he's just taken over. He gets his job done, but takes critical moments to pull her aside and offer her refuge in his home city of Velaris. The risk of their conversation costs him, and the next few months are spent overcoming the repercussions, both physical and emotional.
Dark magic swirls in Prythian, calling on spells more ancient than the High Lords and Ladies have seen in centuries and wreaking havoc on those who are too young to even recognize the source. A war is brewing and a quiet battle is already raging for the loyalty of the only healer in Prythian possessing the skills to identify and fight back against the sorcery.
How will young and old, light and dark, pain and forgiveness, come together to save the land, and each other?

52 parts Complete Mature

For everyone who is sick of waiting for Sarah J Maas to finally release Azriel's story. And everyone who doesn't want him to end up with Gwyn or Elaine. Here is my version of his love story that takes place right at the end of the original A Court of Thorns and Roses. Amarantha's daughter, Marlie, just got out from Under the Mountain where she got trapped for 50 years, just for trying to confront her mother. When Feyre, Cursebreaker, manages the trials and frees everyone, Marlie somehow finds herself winnowed into Velaris, Rhysands other Court. There, she raises the attention of the High Lord and the inner circle for entering through the warding. Especially Azriel's attention. (I wrote this story nearly three years ago, so it's not my greatest work, but I wanted to share it so you can have my take on Azriel's story before Sarah J. Maas actually publishes hers) *Excluding some original characters, all characters and places belong to Sarah J. Maas*
