Velen is a harsh, nearly uninhabitable swamp full of hardships and nightmare-ish monsters of all shapes and sizes and this is the story of Ambra, a town deep in those swamps of Velen that becomes stricken in misfortune, a formidable beast whose very presence is a danger to the village without ever needing to step foot in it. They're in need of a monster slayer, a Witcher and after gathering up the coin the villagers look toward a young girl, a girl named Vesless, to travel to the neighboring town a long ways away to find one. Females are seen as uncapable, a liability, while males are seen as strong and talented. Being that only males can bestow honor among their families if chosen to become a dragon rider or magic wielder, Rose is determined to overcome the stereotypes. Vera 'Rose' Wellington has always been different. Being abandoned on the doorstep in the orphanage in Trinity Stone village, she has not had the easiest beginning. But, her appearance is what draws in others. Her aura is so powerful, it makes you want to respect her and follow her lead.
