She desperately want to visit her country again but the fact that she is secretly dying stops her from visiting Greece ever again . 
After her tragic death Matteo finds Maria's old diary from when the two of them were teenagers and in love . 
Now Matteo feels the need to visit all the places that are described in the diary alone to stay connected with his wife .
