My name is Umaroth Ajikson. My father and sister died in a fire, my mother died shortly afterwards. I've been living in the Spine since shortly after that. However, one day I saved someone from dying by a bear. This person was travelling with another person and a dragon. My life just got a whole lot more interesting. I joined the trio on their travels with my trusty stallion, Istal. Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, must take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders. Joined by Brom, an old storyteller who isn't who he says he is, and myself, someone who has a lot of bad luck, all of us must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds. Together we must face enemies and get through the battles surround us. I've been sucked into an adventure that wasn't meant to be mine, but now that I'm here, I'm not leaving Eragon, Brom and Saphira to their fate. Plus, the purple dragon in my dreams says we're going to meet soon. Who am I to deny that? This is my story, and remember; when everything seems dark sja fram, look forward.

Two hundred and fifty years after the fall of Galbatorix, Alagaesia is a very different place. Trading routes have been opened up all through the world with the country being the center of it all. Ilirea has become a thriving city and has grown immensely, with large businesses bustling, and tens of thousands of citizens living their daily lives. With the dragon riders thriving with the country nothing seems wrong. But with a large city comes a dark underground, and with rumours spreading the streets of a powerful new weapon not even the elves can compete with, the dragon riders find themselves losing what little control they have over the criminals hiding in the shadows. Ragin, professional thief and assassin, has been tasked with an impossible mission. One that has never been achieved before. Stealing a dragon egg. When Murtagh comes to heal Nasuada in the Hall of the Soothsayer, Galbatorix learns about his betrayal. Needless to say, he is furious. Murtagh and Nasuada are trapped together and endure as they can, until Eragon comes to the rescue and they are able to defeat the King. They all need to deal with the aftermath in their own way. This fic will contain themes and mentions that may be triggering, please read the warnings and tags I used and proceed at you own discretion. In the time Eragon has been absent from Alagaësia, the riders have fallen to vices. Few have been able to raise to fulfill the roles the riders had originally been given, and a dark sect-reminiscent of the Foresworn-has risen to power. The cities and villages under their control live in fear, and those not already sworn to them are too weak to fight. Erys is a young girl living a simple village life. When men attack the village, her father disguises her as a young boy and makes her swear never to reveal her identity. When the marauders discover her, they take her and the other women and children hostage. Erys struggles to survive. Hiding her identity is almost impossible, and once they get her to the slave market, she would be trapped forever, and her true identity discovered. She plans her escape every night but has no idea where to go or who to trust. Her only sure plan of action is to free her mother, who has disappeared along with the other women captured the night of the attack. But first she has to escape her captors. And they have a dark secret and an even darker motive. One that would surely wreak havoc if no one stops them. Disclaimer! I do own Alagäesia. Two years after the end of The Inheritance Cycle (one year after FWW), we follow Murtagh and Thorn as they hurry across Alagaesia, trying to warn their friends of a potential threat, and unravel the mystery of a witch stalking across the land. Murtagh faces past demons and Thorn tries to convince him to accept the love and help of his family and friends. C1: Nasuada is surprised when Murtagh shows up suddenly and violently in Ilerea, saving her life in the process C2: Roran is trudging through winter in Palancar Valley when his estranged dragon rider cousin appears in his barn, wounded and in need of help. C3: Eragon is shocked when Thorn plummets out of the sky above Mt. Argnor with an unconscious Murtagh on his back. Thorn cannot remember anything, and Eragon and Arya must find a way into Murtagh's mind in order to discover the truth before it's too late. C4: Eragon must quickly unravel many threads of deception in order to save lives. C5: Murtagh and Eragon are reunited with someone from their past. A new rider begins training. Thorn tries to navigate life alongside other dragons for the first time. C6: Arya helps Murtagh atone for old wrongs, and face a possible future at Mt. Argnor.

This is a prequel to the Inheritance Cycle. This is how the first Dragon Riders came to be and how they change to help Alagaesia from those who wish to harm it. Once the truce between dragons and elves is made the dragons gave the elves three eggs, once they hatched the new riders must train to become the heroes and protectors Eragon (the original one not Eragon Brom's son) expects them to be, but then the new queen Dellanir forbids dragon riders to enter the elves' forests, making it a little more difficult. Afterwards Eragon appoints the Rider's new leader and leaves with another rider to explore other lands beyond the Edda River. Winner of the TR Awards in the Group 3 (1k views) category

(Essentially a detailed account of what happened to Murtagh from his capture under Farthen Dur until Galbatorix's fall, framed by his new life at Mt. Argnor) Murtagh struggles to adjust to life as an instructor at Mt. Argnor, despite being surrounded by good people and doing fulfilling work. When his erratic behavior and alcoholism get out of control, his dragon Thorn and his brother Eragon take him to see the Eldunari, who encourage him to face the horrors of his past in order to overcome his pain. With the help of Thorn and the Eldunari, he dives into the sea of memory and must wade through the hurt and torment to come out whole on the other side. Note: This is part 2 of a series that follows Murtagh's story post-Inheritance.
