"Lucien kissed me as if he was starving, as if he was desperate, as if he was a sinner, and my lips held the keys to his salvation. His hands snaked under his coat, exploring my body like he was on a mission, like my skin had the answer to all of his questions, his desires, his prayers."

Obsessed with her neighbour across the hall, Nova spends close to three months watching his every move. Incredibly attractive, dark, and mysterious, Lucien is the perfect man for a harmless crush.

It isn't until Nova is attacked one day that she discovers that there is so much more to her neighbour and that maybe, she was right about him all along.

Lucien has been watching her for just as long, obsessing over her every move, scaring away every guy that even breathed the same air as her.

In this mutual obsession, dark romantacy short story, both Nova and Lucien have to decide: surrender to their fate or fight it every step of the way.

Her eyes widened, and she dropped her glass. The glass clanked against her dinner plate and crumbled. She immediately looked down at it and frantically started picking up the pieces. "Leave it for a servant," I sniped at her. Reginald, our head waiter, promptly appeared at her side and started picking up shards. Our servants were specially trained on how to clean up messes without having bloody accidents. She looked up at me with a renewed sense of hostility. "I will do it myself!" Reginald didn't move. He is trained to insist. "Please, Miss?" he asked quietly. He took hold of the piece of glass in her hand and pulled. She squeaked in pain and held her hand up in front of her face. It was in plain view so that everyone could see. Her finger had been sliced open. The sweet smell got so strong that it was almost irresistible. Prompt number: 11. Vampires are bound by an ancient destiny: their soulmate is always human, and this bond is governed by three rules. The smell of their soulmate's blood is irresistible, its taste is sweeter than anything else, and if the love is unrequited, it can be fatal.
