I wish I could say life has been easy.
But that would be a lie.
Having a parent pass, all but easy.
Having a great group of friends though, that only makes it easier to cope.
The down fall of that group of friends though, is that after a funeral, long summer vacation, the one friend I looked most forward to seeing, I can't even form a sentence with now.
---
The summer before his 8th grade year, Calvin Truitt, his father John, and little brother Brayden went through a devastating loss.
Calvin and Brayden lost their mother in a long, unglorious fight to the big C, pancreatic for the record. And John, lost the love of his life, his wife, and his very best friend.
His friends spent that entire summer giving nothing but comfort, love, and not to mention good times that Calvin didn't want but absolutely needed.
Minus one friend.
That one friend, Delilah Martin.
Delilah Martin spent that summer away, visiting with her grandparents in Nevada, but little to Calvins surprise, when they came back on that first day of school, Delilah was no longer that girl he always knew. Braces were gone, body filled out, coming in to her own sense of style, and it had Calvin shaking in his shoes.
Fast forward 4 years, and barely a word has been said between he, and his former bruh girl best friend turned baddie, until, Calvin's fresh new sister shows up in beautiful St Augustine Florida, and just as much as he and his friends rocked her world, she rocked his by befriending beautiful Delilah Martin.
Delilah, she is the girl Calvin has always dreamed of.
When it comes to Calvin, Delilah feels that she might as well keep dreaming.
But with the help of Haven, Tucker, Colten, Ricky, and Shay, not to mention the loud and over-opinionated friends he's come to share with Haven from New Orleans, can Calvin make his dream girl his reality?
Do you ever wonder what life would be like if it were a movie? Or some sappy romance novel that you wish your life could be like but it's not? Sometimes you may even get to caught up in the fictional world that you don't realise it IS fictional. Then when you do realise life isn't what you convinced yourself it would be, there is only one possible outcome. Depression. Which may lead to anxiety, self-harm, low self esteem, and worst of all, losing the people you love. Life works in weird ways. Not just for you but for others too. Take Cassidy Rivers for example. Her life is far from perfect. No parents, over protective big brother, few friends, and Asher Norman, the bad boy who won't stop picking on her. Could life get any worse for Cassidy?
