Maybe I was destined to be doomed.

I didn't know it would take this long.

He should've died then and there. And she should've minded her business. But neither of them did as they were told. And I wondered if anything would ever be fair in my life.

I had walked for what felt like 800 miles. But it wasn't that much. But I knew it was a while. I got to a part of town that I hadn't seen. I guess it was a long time for me to be walking, cause it was sunset. I had been walking since noon. It must've been about 6 o'clock, cause it's winter, and the sun is nowhere to be seen.

I'm just glad I wasn't back in the woods again.

The only few buildings I had seen was a gas station and a convenience store. There were two cars at the gas station, and one at the store. One of them was a truck, it didn't seem to have a driver in it yet.

I don't want to sleep out here tonight, it'd be best to go however far I can in the bed of the truck, and then hop off when I need to. Whether that be getting caught or falling out, so be it. I'm desperate, homeless, cold, and I could've been an orphan. I should've anyway.

Beneath the Montana sky

16 parts Ongoing

In the wake of tragedy, John Dutton struggles to keep his fractured family together after the sudden death of his wife, Evelyn. His children, each dealing with their own grief, grow distant, leaving John to face the emptiness of the ranch alone. But when Lucille "Lucy" Pierce arrives, a strong-willed woman with a work ethic to rival the toughest cowboys, she begins to heal more than just the land. Over the years, Lucy becomes a steady presence, offering support to John's children, and her bond with them deepens. John's feelings for Lucy grow as well, torn between the love he still holds for Evelyn and the undeniable connection he shares with Lucy. On Lucy's 34th birthday, John brings home a troubled teenager named Rip, a boy who's lost everything and needs a place to belong. As Lucy takes Rip in, their bond as a family strengthens, but John's unspoken love for Lucy hangs in the air, unacknowledged yet ever present. In the unforgiving Montana wilderness, they find healing, love, and the courage to move forward-together.
