After trying to help her overcome some sort of brainwashing, Optimus realizes that the truth is more complicated than it seems. As the two of them work together, they both face their weaknesses and the many trials thrown at them by an interdimensional threat and some domestic ones. Optimus has a harsh life as the bearer of the matrix and Temptest struggles to be the symbol of freedom she once was. Alongside them, one Megatron works to protect his adopted family while the other tags along, fighting and testing them in hopes he'll find what he lost in his own dimension. The bots imagine that a terrible villain is on the prowl, but struggle to figure out who. The war has ended, leaving Megatron as a prisoner and Optimus as the new leader of Cybertron. Unwilling to execute Megatron for hate of killing yet another mech, Optimus devises a plan to hopefully change Megatron for the better. But there are always flaws with even the best of plans, so the Prime must take the good with the bad as he tries to show Megatron that even he can feel happiness. Autobots and Decepticons alike are flocking back home, ready to rebuild their restored planet. Optimus' dreams of redemption for all beings is finally coming true. With the war finally over, Ratchet and Optimus finally get to live their fantasy of having a family. Optimus didn't anticipate the target that would be put over Ratchet's head once he became sparked. A small band of Decepticons aren't satisfied with the way things played out. Seeking revenge and compensation, they take the sparked medic hostage, and the race begins. Optimus must juggle his Primely duties and searching for his medic while complying to the outrageous demands. His desperation is what leads him to Megatron.

Set after Transformers One: With the newfound threat of the Quintessions on the horizon, Optimus Prime must put aside his fears and lead the Autobots against Cybertron's greatest threat and their newest enemy, The Decepticons.
