Hope Mikaelson's humanity came rushing back to her through the love of her family. After regaining her humanity she was forced to fight the villainess Ken in order to protect her new found family, the Salvatore School. 

During the climatic battle, a release of energy pushes the tribrid into a new universe. The next thing Hope knows, she wakes up in Folks, Washington, where everything supernatural is flipped on its head. 

In her quest to get home, Hope meets Rowan Cullen. He promises to help her get home if in return, she teaches him everything she knows about magic. 

Hope soon becomes involved with everything Cullen, and she begins to question if Rowan is everything she thinks he is or if he's much, much worse.
