Blocky, through a friend, obtained a spot in Soviet television, becoming the most famous comedian of the entire communist period, Stalin's closest friend and a later media personality too big to be purged. This is well known. He wrote nothing during his his time in the military. To improve his image as a glorious veteran, loyal communist and excellent husband, as well as provide a good example to the populace, this was revised. These letters, fabricated 20 years after the fact, are propaganda as simple as you get it. Ghost-written by comrades Ryba(袪褘斜邪), Orech(袨褉械褏), Slyuna(小谢褞薪邪) and Chesnok(效械褋薪芯泻), none of whom had any battlefield experience, they nonetheless provide a useful view into their personal attitudes, as well as society around them.
