When it comes to writing fan fictions, I feel that it should be done for at least one of four reasons: 1. You love the source material and are paying homage to it, 2. There is something that you wish to explore even further within the canon, usually a "what if" question, 3. You have an original story that you want to push forward, and finally 4. There is something you perceive to be wrong with the story and you are correcting it. For me, writing this story hits all four points. I will add notes as the story progresses to explain myself where necessary. I hope you enjoy!

After Aizen's Downfall the surviving Arrancars are healed by Orihime, and reluctantly pardoned on one condition. The most powerful of the survivors has to be under the watch of Orihime. In order to repay her, Ulquiorra agrees to the conditions and begins to live with her in the human world. As a new threat looms in the horizon both Orihime and Ulquiorra develop a bond that might be the key to defeating this new foe.

Orihime wants to destroy the Hogyoku, but has no idea it will kill all the Arrancar it has created. When she does find out, she's torn between saving her friends or the fourth Espada she's suddenly fallen in love with. Ulquiorra is assigned to Inoue Orihime for one reason only: to keep her alive. He never expected to fall in love with her. And as these feelings are befalling him, the Hogyoku appears, threatening him with her life. What will they do?
