Lance, to put it simply, was an awful prince. Mostly because he was never supposed to be one, and being completely thrown into the role at age ten with exactly zero instruction didn't help. Things had a sudden change. And another. And one more time, as he found himself tumbling out of his sleep pod and into a very pretty person. This person was not Altean. Nor was this person even female. That was distressing. They grew closer, fighting together, becoming a good team. His attraction didn't die off.
