I am not an author...but I love a good tale.
When my children were young, every night I would make up a "tale" for them at bedtime. I would just make something up on the spot, all of us laying there together in the dark, and I would let the story tell itself. One was about a teapot that loved to swim. One about a rock that grew legs. One about a town full of people that realized that their entire town was physically shrinking.
"Stuck" came to life when I was out of town for work. The kids begged my wife for a tale for the night, so she called me for help. I quickly typed up a tale and emailed it to her to read to them the next night. I didn't know how to finish the short story so I left it unfinished, and this became chapter one of a serial story that continued every night. Each night I sent a new chapter, until there were about 8 chapters when I got back home from the trip.
The kids took it to school to show their friends. Soon I was getting emails and calls from parents telling me that their kids were begging to find out what happened next. So I kept writing and sending out chapters, one by one, until it was about 16 chapters, which I will load up here.
I hope you like it.
