YOUR POV

You let out an annoyed huff as you opened up the crumpled piece of paper that had been thrown at your back. You were in potions class and trying to concentrate but of course they had to ruin it. Gemma and Cathy, the two vile girls that had decided to target you since the moment you first joined Hogwarts. They'd been bullying you for merlin knows how long, the same old repetitive name calling and pranking e.t.c.
You'd become pretty much numb to it, it was just silly and childish so you didn't bother to waste your breath on them, that and the fact that you weren't the best at standing up for yourself anyway.
You rolled your eyes as you scanned the wrinkled paper, covered in pathetic doodles of you with horrid names circling you.
The class wasn't exactly quiet, people were casually talking so you decided to be bold and turned in your seat to look at the both of them, they immediately started to feign obliviousness.
"Cause that's real mature isn't it?" you commented.
Gemma's head snapped towards you and she raised an eyebrow,
"Don't get all tough with us Y/N" she cockily responded, an "ooo" being heard from Cathy.
"You don't scare me Gemma" you defended.
"Watch your fucking mouth" she spat back.

You decided you'd had enough of this petty little conversation and turned back around in your chair, your eyes met with your professor's instantly.
Shit, had he seen that entire thing? you thought, embarrassed.
Nevertheless, you continued working in silence for the rest of the lesson, feeling the brooding potions masters eyes never leaving you.

The bell finally rang and you sprung from your chair, eager to just get to lunch and get away from them.
"Gemma. Cathy. Stay behind for a moment will you?" Snape suddenly spoke up, annoyance evident in his tone causing you to gulp as you were met with your bullies cold stares.
His eyes flicked to yours briefly, but you just looked at the floor and quickly left,
not saying a word.

*Time Skip: lunch has ended*

You had a free period and had decided to head to the library to study for awhile. The corridors were scarce, most people in their classes, as you made your way through them. The only sound being your footsteps.
You turned a corner and were suddenly met with such a strong force, startling you as you were slammed into the lockers. Having had no time to react, you were trapped between the wall and Gemma's hand as it tightly clutched your throat.
"Decided to blab to Professor Snape did we?" She asked spitefully, pushing you further into the locker as Cathy laughed.
That made no sense at all, you never even talked to Snape, as if you'd tell him something so personal. Yeah right.
"What? I haven't told him shit!" you spat, struggling to breathe.
She pulled you back only to slam you harder into the locker as your head rang.
"Don't get smart with me
Y/N, i'm capable of far more than you think.." Gemma attempted to make herself seem as intimidating as she possibly could.
"You wouldn't do crap Gemma, i do not and will never fear you" you smirked.
She drew back her fist and you braced yourself, expecting a punch, but felt nothing as a harsh voice boomed from across the corridor.
"Take your hands off of her. Now." your professors voice was menacing as Gemma dropped you suddenly, you fell to the floor gasping.
"Sir i- i can explain" she began
"Get. Out." he spat.
The girls had ran off within seconds.

You were still and coughing and gasping mess on the floor, feeling foolish at what Snape had witnessed.
You were surprised to say the least when he extended his hand for you to take. You did, and he pulled you up carefully.
"Y/N..." he trailed off, unsure of what to say.
"What did you say to them? When you kept them after class?" you asked him calmly.
His facial expression turned to one of guilt, something you had never seen from him as he looked at the floor.
"I..told them to stay away from you. It's just i knew that they'd been bothering you for some time y/n.."
"Do you REALISE WHAT YOU'VE DONE?" you shouted, surprising yourself.
His head snapped up to meet your eyes as he reached out to you, taking a step forward. You moved away.
"Y/n i'm so sorry, i never meant for this to happen. I should've known it would make things worse. This is all my fault.." he frantically apologised, upset.
You felt guilty for being so harsh with him and rubbed at your slightly teary eyes.
"Professor i'm sorry- i shouldn't of snapped. It's just that this is going to make things so much worse for me" you explained.
"Oh trust me darling, they won't be bothering you anymore" he assured, your heart skipping a beat as you realised what he had called you.
He then slowly began to pull your small frame towards his and did something professor Snape NEVER does.
He hugged you,
a warm comforting embrace that made you feel as though everything was going to be okay. You felt safe and protected in his strong arms as he rubbed circles on your back.
You finally pulled away from the hug and looked up at him,
"Sir, why did you even scold them in the first place? Not to be cruel but i never took you as the type to care" you quizzed.
He raised one eyebrow, taking a step towards you and holding your chin with his fingers as he brought his face closer to your own.
You felt your breathing quicken and tried to hide your rosy cheeks as his lips were inches from yours.
"Maybe this might help me explain myself..." he spoke in almost a whisper as he pressed his lips to yours, resting one hand on the small of your back as the other entangled in your hair, pulling you closer.
You kissed him back with determination and force, cupping his cheek with your hand as the other rested on his broad chest.
You both finally pulled away and he smirked down at you with adoration as you smiled.
"Yes, that did help" you joked, him smiling softly as he pulled you in for yet another kiss.
