author's note up here this time- wanted to leave this chapter off with a bang.

haha, this is a really long part, aroounddd five thousand words? yeah. it's crazy- but it's all in mikayla's pov and i'm super proud of it because everything lines up with the last chapter.

next chapter is the aftermath of the battle, and then we're off into the two-year gap! so we'll be introducing new people, doing weird stuff at the base, and of course.. galloway. (booooo!)

anyways, here we go! again, chapters are never edited so tread with caution. peace out!

======

After the blast, Mikayla had lost sight of almost everyone.

Earlier, she had spotted Jazz put Emmersyn behind some of the abandoned military vehicles for her safety- so she knew the blonde was alright. But now all she heard behind the ringing in her ears were muffled voices through the smoke, some calling out to others, and even more barking out orders.

Blinking to clear away the fuzz, the girl pushed herself up off the ground and forwards- coughing out the dust in her lungs.

Finding nothing to be broken or bruised, only some minor scratches here and there, she took a few steps forwards and peered through the dirt & musk. A loud, mechanical whine sounded from her right, and she turned to see a familiar mech pulling himself from the side of a broken building.

"Oh my god.." she mumbled, rushing forwards in panic. She had no idea what to do.

Hearing unsteady steps behind her, along with a sharp gasp, the brunette knew that Sam had appeared behind her. "Bumblebee? Oh, god, your legs."

There, crawling weakly in front of them, was the happy-go-lucky mech they all knew and loved. And his legs were completely ripped off.

He kept crawling towards the group, but Mikayla couldn't understand what he wanted to do. A guilty panic rushed through her as she stared blankly at the yellow bot.

"Bee." Sam cried, stumbling forwards to stop his movement, "Bee, come on, back up. Please- you're, you're hurting yourself worse."

A loud whine resounded around them, and Bumblebee stopped his pursuit, instead lying on the ground in front of them. Mikayla bit her lip, walking towards him. Once she reached his face, she crouched down and gave him as big of a hug as she could.

"Thank you." she started, her voice cracking slightly. Bee whirred in defeat as she continued, trying to get up so he could still prove himself useful. "Thank you for saving us. I'm so, so sorry."

"Anytime.. milk." Bee replied, his radio still working- although scratched, "But there was.. nothing you could do.. to prevent this."

The brunette paused, letting his words sink in. Was he right? She knew Starscream would be there- they both did. But they clung to the false hope that it wasn't as it seemed, that it really was friendly fire. How could they be so stupid?

But then again, it would have happened either way, wouldn't it? The universe sure did have a funny way of putting the pieces together, even if it was in the wrong order. The only way you could fix a wrong was to make a right.

After a few seconds, Mikayla got back up- heading straight for her doppelganger.

As the girl tore forwards, she felt a slight tug on her leg. Looking down, she saw the sparkling she had rescued earlier.
