The bell rang, signalling the end of the school day and I was more than ready to leave the school.

If it weren't for the crowd of students hovering in front of the entrance to class, murmuring between themselves.

"I don't have time for this, see you three next week." I mumbled to Deku, Uraraka and Iida, not in the mood to talk to other students.

I blended in with my surroundings and shoved my way through the sea of students, passing a guy with billowing purple hair.

The sports festival was two weeks away, so I had to get ready for that and on top of it all, it was adoption day.

Adoption day made it sound like a lot of people were going to get adopted, but in reality it was usually a few couples that came to adopt someone. Most of the children are excited for it, but I wasn't. I quite liked how it was in the orphanage. I had my own room, no one really spoke to me and I was left to my resources.

An introvert's dream.

Once I was away from the crowd I deactivated my quirk and continued down the hallway.

"So, what do you like to do for fun?" The woman asked with a smile

I shrugged. "Usually hang out in my room or go on the train to explore cities."

"Do you like trains?" The man asked.

"No, not really." I replied.

Currently I was sitting in a room with a couple who was looking to adopt someone around my age and we were trying to get acquainted with each other.

(I've already forgotten their names.)

Though I was trying to be as uninteresting as possible to not get chosen.

Don't get me wrong, this couple seemed to be lovely, but there were many others here that are probably better candidates than me.

And either way, I had around 2-3 years left here before I am able to leave and live somewhere on my own.

"So......you got to U.A. and in the hero course?" The woman asked, looking at the small pile of papers in front of her. "Why's that?"

I shrugged. "I tried out for it and got lucky I guess."

"But was there a reason for you to do so?"

I paused. "I'm proving people wrong about me."

"Oh..." She replied, exchanging looks with the man.

And I knew already that I was off the list.

"Well it was lovely to meet you (Y/n)...but we would like to meet the others." The man said, starting to stand up.

I shook their hands and left the room with a satisfied grin, knowing that I will still be here.

"So how did it go?" Faye asked, looking up from her computer.

"It went well I guess, but I don't think they're interested." I replied.

"Oh that's a shame."

"Yeah..." I replied absentmindedly, "anyway, I'm going to my room."

"Okay."

———

Two weeks passed in what felt like the blink of an eye and soon enough the Sports Festival was looming ahead.

I had been working on my quirks and training for it, like everyone else, but I also made the conscious decision to not stand out too much for the festival.
