before the attack

I woke from my bed at precisely 7am I was too excited to sleep last night. I couldn't wait to meet Reiner it was only another 3 hours. We go to the same school but it's different in the summer we get to hang out all day dawn till dusk. The thought alone put a smile on my face. I could just tell this was going to be a good summer.Then my stomach rumbled and I decided it was time to head down for breakfast.I wandered down the stairs groggily I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and reached the bottom of the stairs. Both my parents weren't awake yet I walked into the kitchen and grabbed myself a piece of bread and put it in the toaster. Meanwhile I walked to the front door and picked up a newspaper and saw in bold "15 NEW CANDIDATES FOR MARLEAN CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE ELDIAN DEVILS!"" Huh" I thought to myself I didn't realize I would be on the front cover for everyone to see I prefer to be in the background. Flicked through pages trying to find a page where giving more information about it. When I found the page it said This morning at 6am the Marleyean Government announced that 15 new candidates have been chosen which is speculated to be a rumored attack force on the Paradis island devils. The candidates will be in fierce competition with each other. Their names are Annie Leonheart,Porco Galliard,his brother Marcel Gaillard,Emma Ito, Zeke Jeager, Reiner Braun,Bertholdt Hoover,Ja-"     the toaster popped and I dropped the news paper I grabbed a plate from the cabinet and placed in down by the toaster and grabbed some butter and spread it I sat to eat and my parents came down"you're up early, Bert." My mum observed. Meanwhile my father started to wonder to the front door " I already got the newspaper,dad." I called down the corridor from the kitchen."Thanks " He called back and turned and walked back to the kitchen" Are your reading it?" he asked " No you can read"I answered  "Thank you " he replied he picked up the slightly creased newspaper and read his face screamed happiness " Son you made the front page!!!" He exclaimed he seemed so content and proud it made me smile knowing I had made his day. I turned to my mum she was in utter disbelief her jaw dropped. My heart skipped a beat was she Angry?Upset?Happy?Proud? The anticipation was killing  me I just wanted her to say her thoughts. My smile dropped. My eyes wandered to my dad. He was as surprised and confused at her actions as I. She seemed to regain thoughts."Your on the front page!!" she screamed ecstatically i smiled more than anytime before.She and my dad brought me into their embrace.It was one of the best feelings ever. My dad stepped back and praised me "you're going to be amazing.We're so proud of you.We love you so much.If you want you can go and play with Reiner And i'll make you your favourite dinner." My mum let go to see my reaction. My face lit up. This was one of the best days of my life. A wave of thoughts rushed over me.This day will be the best. I can't wait for dinner. I wonder when i can tell Reiner. I wonder how Reiner is celebrating. If he isn't he could come over and celebrate with us."You'd better go and get dressed if you're meeting Reiner." "Will do .See you in a minute." I  turned and walked to my room. I opened my door put away the clothes I hadn't tidied yet and left the ones I was going to wear and set those aside.After i had tidied , I changed into jeans and a basic short sleeve t-shirt and a hoodie on. I put my shoes and socks on and went downstairs. the time was 9:30, "I have another 15 minutes !" I thought to myself. i went into the kitchen and made myself a cup of coffee and picked up the newspaper and flicked to a random page. I sat reading for the next 15 mins. I looked up at the time and set the newspaper down on the coffee table  and  called to my parents" Bye!" " Bye sweetie!" My mum replied."Bye son!" My dad called.  I ran through the street to Reiner's house. Once i reached his house i knocked on the oak door. His mum opened the door and said" hello Bert,Reiner will be ready in a second He's always late for everythi-"mummm stop embarrassing me!"He exclaimed while putting his left shoe on.Meanwhile i started to laugh at Karina's comment. " Bertttt! "He moaned which caused me to laugh more.
