Lilah
"Lilah?" I heard a familiar voice as I walked down the hallway, on my way to my first class.
"Hey Isaac." I smiled at him as he walked towards me.
"Where have you been? You haven't been to school in over a month!" He adjusts the strap of his backpack.
"Oh... um.." I stumbled to think of something to say that would be believable.
"It's okay. You can keep your secrets." He laughed, and looked at the clock on his phone.
"I have to go. Class is starting." He started to jog away but before he was out of sight, he yelled over his shoulder "I'll see you in theater!"
I have only been at school for about 20 mins and i've already had a ton of people asking me where i've been. I haven't exactly come up with an excuse yet.
I really don't need anyone knowing what happened over the last couple months. I would become the most popular girl at Rosewood high, with everyone asking me questions and pitying me. For me, that would be a nightmare.
I enter the english classroom and of course, everyone is looking at me. Mrs. Willons welcomes me back and I walk to my old seat next to Caitlin.
I shrink down in my chair, trying to avoid the eyes of every student in this room.
"Don't like the attention?" I heard Caitlin whisper as she leaned towards me.
"Definitely not." I nod my head.
"I'm curious too, but I won't ask." She says and her eyes shift to the cuts that were still slightly visible on my arm from the broken window.
"You technically just did by saying that." I reply, pulling my sleeve over my arm.
"Not out right." Caitlin says shrugging. I laugh and roll my eyes slightly as Mrs. Willons starts class.

By lunch I was pretty sure that every single student had talked to me today, asking me questions that I avoided. The staring wasn't as bad as it was this morning but it was still enough to make me squirm in my seat.
"I can't believe they are still together." Kayla said, disgust laced in her voice.
"Who?" I ask following her gaze. My eyes landed on Finn and Maddie. Maddie was talking with another cheerleader. When I looked at Finn, my heart skipped a beat as I discovered that he was already looking at me.
"He looks so miserable over there." Logan observed. "If only he would just break up with that girl already, she's only using him for his popularity."
"Maybe there's something else going on that we don't know about." I suggested. Logan just stared at me. "What?"
"I figured that you of all people would be the most bothered by this. You and Finn have gotten really close." He wiggled his eyebrows.
"We're just friends. That's all we can be. He's with Maddie." I sneak another glance at Finn. He's not looking at me anymore, instead I found him picking at his food, a bored look resting across his face.
"You didn't deny it!" Kayla squealed from beside me, shaking my shoulder.
"Deny what?" I asked, breaking out of my daze.
"You totally like Finn! I knew it! You can't lie to your best friend." Kayla smirked.
"I technically didn't lie. I told you we were just friends. I never said I didn't like him."
"She admits it!" Logan yelled, a little too loudly for my liking. We get a couple weird looks.
"Logan! Quiet down! You're calling attention to us." I complained, slouching in my seat a bit.
