It had been a while since George had recalled the day he had least expected. The day that Dream had kneeled down and promised to never let him go. The day that George had said yes without a second thought, knowing that if he wasn't with Dream he wouldn't no longer have the will to live.
And finally, it was his turn to stand where Fundy once stood. To take his rightful place at the front of a church and watch once again as Dream walked down the aisle, Sapnap by his side as he had fallen out with his parents a while before they met and didn't support him anymore. It hurt George to know that Dream didn't have anyone else to go to.
The day would be tomorrow. The big day that had been grasping his full attention for the past month. The day had drawn closer and time had gone slower as it arrived.George's parents had flown from London for two weeks to be with him and Dream as well. Though it was slightly awkward sharing his house with four people he managed along with his mum to cook food for everyone.
"I'm so proud of you" said his mum. They were sitting together in George's bedroom while everyone else sat around the table in the kitchen. "And I just want to say how much I was worried after Sapnap messaged me that you were in hospital" George opened his mouth but no words came out. Sapnap cared enough to let his parents know?
"Did he really?" He asked looking away from his mother's gentle face. Her expressions always calmed him, other than Dream she was the one other person he enjoyed being around.
"Yes, and I was very worried for you. But I'm glad that Dream was here for you, you fit together perfectly, even if your father doesn't support it" she said and put her hand on his shoulder. George sighed and looked back into her brown eyes. He had always believed that he resembled her the most.
"Thanks mum" he said and smiled nervously.
"I can tell your nervous George, I was too" she reassured, the small dimples faded from her cheeks as she became serious.
"Well yeah, of course I am, it's only because of what happened last time" he said trying to push his negative memories away.
"Well it's quite late, I'm going to sleep now and leave you and Dream alone. I think you should get some rest too" she said and stood up, giving George another smile before walking out, leaving George sitting on his bed. He could hear muffled voices from down the hall and desperately awaited the sound of Dream walking towards him.
A few minutes passed, and then he heard it, the footsteps he had memorised. They gave him butterflies as they got closer."Hi" George said nervously as Dreams figure appeared around the door frame, he rested his arm on the wall and smiled at George.
"How are you?" Dream asked then sighed and collapsed on the bed next to George.
"I'm fine, more like how are you? I heard how much my dad was questioning you." George giggled and accepted an eye roll from Dream.
"He was fine, honestly." He replied and rolled onto his side to look George in the eyes. George smiled.
"Are you excited?" George asked, as he looked at Dreams face thoughtfully.
"About the wedding?" He said quietly.
"Yes" George replied.
"Of course I'm excited George, but I'm also hella nervous. I'm just hoping that it all goes to plan, and nothing happens like... before" he paused and George took a deep breath to calm himself.
"It won't be like last time Dream" he said truthfully and watched Dreams eyes sparkle with the same affection he had seen in their FaceTime months ago. "This time it's us, and it's real" He remembered now, the pain he had felt and the jealousy when Dream stood up on the stage with Fundy. But Fundy was gone now. He was deported back to the Netherlands. George had nothing to worry about. So why was he so scared? Scared of losing Dream again, or losing himself.
"It's real" Dream repeated and leaned forwards, kissing George's forehead. "It's completely real and you know that. I don't want you to ever forget that." The words dug in George's heart and made him burst with sweet affection.
"I couldn't live without you Dream. You keep me together." George said quietly, fear inching into his skin as he thought about what would've happened if he wasn't with Dream. He would've been torn from the inside, his emotions and feelings completely helpless and useless as he watched Fundy get with Dream. It brought a tear to his eyes.
"And that's exactly why I proposed George. Because I want you to, and I want to keep you here with me, I could never watch you let go of yourself, it would kill me." Dream said quickly and touched his soft hand on George's cheek to wipe a cold tear that had slipped down.
"I can't stop thinking about it thought. What could've happened if you... you and F..Fundy" George stammered, unable to bring himself to finish his sentence. Another tear slipped down his cheek and onto the bed below him. He felt Dreams hand wrap around his waist and pull him closer, their bodies touching.
"You can't keep tearing yourself up over him George, I know that it's hard to stop but it's hurts to see you like this and I just don't know how to help, because I could never understand the pain you felt, and I'm so proud of how much you've pushed through it, I need you to keep going for me? I want you to be with me forever George. I love you" Dream said and George wrapped his shaking arms around Dream, slowly controlling himself.
"I couldn't do it without you. That's why I'm still here, because I came back for you, because of how much I realised I need you Dream. I love you too. And I didn't know how much I really did." He replied looking up into Dreams eyes, they glistened with tears but they didn't fall.
"Goodnight George" Dream whispered and pressed his lips onto George's once again. George closed his eyes and melted into Dreams touch.
"Goodnight Dream" he said as he took a quick breath before closing his eyes and pulling himself closer to his entire world.
