"That's impossible!" Bucky and Steve said in unison as they looked at Fury. Neither of the super soldiers able to believe what the director had just told them.

"So, you do know her then?" Fury continued, as the two men looked at one another. Not sure where to begin.

"Yeah. Buck and I grew up with (Y/n). She was the toughest, smartest girl on the block. She lived with an old lady that she referred to as her grandmother because her pops had died, and her mother just seemed to disappear. Her father was English or something, and her mom German. (Y/n) once said that they met before the Great War but had to separate. Then after it was over, they got back together and moved to the U.S to start a new life. (Y/n) helped Buck watch over me when I was sick. She even beat up the bullies that would come after me. I must admit that (Y/n) was the only real thing that Bucky and I ever argued about. Because, despite her being the biggest tomboy that you could ever hope to meet. Her refusal to wear dresses, do her hair, or anything else that the other girls did. (Y/n) was still the most beautiful girl that either of us had ever seen. And we both loved her." Steve began as he leaned forward on the table. Bucky placing a reassuring hand on his friend's arm.

"When we first heard about the war in Europe, (Y/n) wanted to go and help. She wanted to fight for what was right. She said that she needed to do whatever she could to stop the evil from spreading to the rest of us. And then when the US began to provide military supplies and other assistance to the Allies in late 1940, (Y/n) just seemed to up and disappear without a word. We always used to ask her grandmother about where (Y/n) was, but all she would say, was that (Y/n) would tell us everything when we all got home. And of course, neither of us made it home." Steve continued, as he remembered how often he and Bucky had joked about (Y/n) probably being out there somewhere, trying to win the war single handily.

"We just presumed that we had lost her like we lost everyone else. That she had come home at the end of the war, and just had a normal life, believing that we had both died. We would never have thought this." Bucky added. Still not able to believe what he had heard.

"Well, I can tell you that (Y/f/n) (Y/l/n) is quite alive, and very well. She did in fact volunteer to help the war efforts in Europe. And she became a member of the Office of the Coordinator of Information, and then the Office of Strategic Services in 1942. She was parachuted into Europe behind enemy lines, to gather intelligence on troop movements and military installations. According to the report, the Nazi's eventually captured, and tortured her. Using her to test out their form of the super soldier serum. It would appear that when the Allied invasion of Europe began, the facility she was in, was abandoned. Your old friend being left in a form of cryogenic freeze. We would probably never have found her, if it hadn't been for a group of Polish archaeologists accidentally stumbling onto the long forgotten base. The university that the team are attached to, contacted S.H.I.E.L.D's European base of operations. They went in, retrieved her, and thawed her out. She's still coming to terms with what's happened, and with what she is. But I was told that the first thing that she asked about, was the pair of you." Fury informed Steve and Bucky. Neither of the soldiers sure what to think or say.

"I suggest that you and the rest of the team take a little trip to France. Captain (Y/l/n) is currently being watched over, there. I want you to bring her home. I want you to see if you can persuade her to join us. Because its safer for her, and everyone else, if she becomes part of the team." Fury continued. The director not liking the idea of someone like Steve and Bucky being a possible target for Hydra. A weapon that could be used against them.

Steve and Bucky didn't know whether to laugh or cry, as a multitude of emotions bombarded them. They had lost so many friends and loved ones while they had been away from the world. But now, now they had something, someone that knew them. Someone that knew what, and who they were. Knew what they had been through. (Y/n) had always been there for the pair of them in the past. And now it was their turn to be there for her.
