Dream had been up all night cleaning. Sapnap was going to come tomorrow.
George had been silent for most of the day; a sort of tired ache resonated throughout him, making it hard to speak.
He wanted to ask Dream about the room he had found, but everytime he tried to ask him Dream found something else he had to do. George gave up after the third time, falling back into an uneasy trust.
Dream left to get groceries, leaving George alone in the house.
He debated on whether or not to go to his basement, whether or not to investigate the room or to go somewhere familiar and comfortable.
George decided on the latter.
The walls were cold, as per usual, but something was off. With a small shrug of his shoulders, George placed his fingertips upon the wall. His chipped nails phased through the concrete just the slightest bit, but that was okay.
He paced around the room. It was lonely without Dream. Hopefully having Sapnap here would fix that.
The book was still missing.
Now a couple of jars were missing from one of the shelves too, leaving George to wish he had paid closer attention to their contents.
George paused, feeling a tug deep within him. He knew what it was, seeing as he had felt it so many times.
He needed to go, to pass on. But something was holding him here, tying him down to this plane.
Something cold.
George sighed.
He walked back up the stairs, the places his feet touched freezing into an icy trail behind him.
When Dream got back, George jumped up to greet him.
"Dream!" He said, smiling. Dream's eyes lit up, and he smiled back.
"George! I missed you," he said, his voice soft. It was sweet. Dream was sweet.
Dream stepped out of the doorway and glanced behind him, his eyes scanning the outside as if to search for something. He seemed to find it, a comfortable expression settling on his face.
"Come on, he's just inside," Dream said, confusing George. Was someone else there?
A figure wrapped in a dark hoodie stepped through the doorway, holding a bag of groceries.
As their hood fell down, George felt his heart jump.
The pressure in his eyes returned, tears begging to be released like a river blocked by a dam.
His soft brown eyes fell onto George's, something unreadable changing in his expression as he saw the ghost.
Saw him.
He rushed over to George, tackling him in a hug.
A hug.
George shakily hugged back, his fingers curling in the dark fabric. He was warm.
So, so warm.
"G-George-" his voice shook uncharacteristically, holding onto the ghost tightly like he would fade away any second.
George buried his head into his neck, sobbing without the tears.
"Sapnap-" George cried, the dull throbbing in his eyes becoming almost unbearable.
