I felt the mushy ground below my feet, the rain was coming down hard. Great... Dean hopped out closing the window so the rain wouldn't come in.He took his car keys out and we ran to his car. I closed the car door, took a deep breath and glanced over at him. His blonde hair was soaked like we've been out there for a while, looking at mine it was a red velvet color. He started the car, and started driving.
"Have you talk to Cole ever since lunch?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I texted him earlier, before I came over your house, he didn't answer but I'm pretty sure he's busy with Madi so.." He said.
I couldn't stop thinking about Cole and Madi at lunch today and our parents acting like them.
"I love how they do it in public too, like they don't even care. I can't do that I have to be in a place where like no one is watching, its scary." I got chills as I thought about it.
Well I guess I should of known Madi would let him do that to her in public that's the way she is. I've known Madi for a long time she was my best friend, mostly my only friend well and plus Tyler.
I wasn't really a popular girl in school, I mean I have some friends but we don't really talk. I guess you could call Tyler my friend, he's had a crush on me since like ever but never asked me out, I never really felt the same about him.
Just really good friends, I should text him later to see how he's doing. I wondered if I still had his number.
"Cole has always been like that, bad boy at heart. He's totally in love with Madi though. I wanted to hang out with him today.. But he's busy with Madi. Always." He said.
"Madi does the same thing to me too!" I sad a little to loudly, and he sighed. I decided to change the subject.
"I still can't believe our parents did this to us." I said.
"I know, I should of realized he had a girlfriend, he was happier. He was always late coming home, he would always come home from the bar after work. Left the house in nice shape, coming back with his shirt unbuttoned." He said squeezing his eyes shut for a moment.
"My mom.." I said swallowing. "Had marks on her neck, tried using turtlenecks to cover them that never worked. I just can't believe she didn't tell me, that's just automatically something you would tell your daughter, you know?" I asked, he nodded.
I felt something hot boil up in my eyes, then shortly running down my cheek.
"You okay?" He asked and took my hand, I looked down so he wouldn't see but did.
"Yeah.. Fine.. Just great." I said, stopping the tears and listened to the rain pouring down on his truck. He wasn't going to believe me.
"Why do you lie to me? Is it really that bad if you tell me the truth? Do you not trust me or something Cassie?" I could hear the anger in his voice rising up.
What am I supposed to say? He started speeding up.
"I do trust you Dean you know that, I just don't want to talk about this right now." I said, he pressed down harder on the gas.
"Dean," I whispered and squeezed his hand gently. "Slow down the roads are slippery, we could crash.."
"I know how to drive Cassie!" He yelled, I looked over at how fast he was going 90 mph.
"Dean, please.." Tears started running down my face, this couldn't be happening.
He stepped hard on the breaks. My face collided with the windshield, glass flying everywhere. I had quick flash backs to when I was in the car with my family. Beautiful clear night, Jack and Dad sitting in the front, first time mom let him do that.
Windows rolled down wind blowing through my hair, country music blasting through the radio. There was a truck in the road that didn't have its lights on, my dad tried slowing down he couldn't, the break was stuck.
The last thing he said to us was 'I love you', my mom was already in tears, pulling me close to her. It was all happening so fast. Jack didn't have time to say anything he quickly found my hand and grabbed it, then everything went black.
Soon I hit the cold concrete ground.
